Chapter Fourteen

"You smell like him too," said Sofia, making Victoria blush. She sniffed her own arm and to her horror, she really smelled like Colton! Sofia laughed at her antics. "See? I told you," she said.

"I just fell on his lap so I might be smelling a bit like him. It's not what you're thinking, okay?" said Victoria, defending herself. Sofia chuckled more.

"You just fell into his lap?" She laughed.

"It's not funny," protested Victoria.

"Okay, I'm serious. So tell me more about your friend," said Sofia.

"Forget him, Sofi. Please tell me what have you decided about Davion? What will you do when he returns to his house and finds you gone?" Asked Victoria. She couldn't ask Sofia to return to Reno but at least she would know what Sofia had thought about her marriage. Sofia's smile vanished completely and her eyes reflected the pain that she felt in her heart. She looked down at her hands, helplessly while trying hard to get a grip over herself and face the reality. Victoria's heart went out to her twin but she needed to know what Sofia had decided.

"I'll send him the divorce papers, " said Sofia softly, almost in a whisper. Victoria stared at her, swallowing the lump in her throat. She just couldn't bear to see her twin in so much pain.

"We have to tell mom and dad, Sofi. Do you realize that?" Asked Victoria gently. Sofia nodded.

"I'll tell them soon. I'll ask dad to help me file for divorce," she said. Victoria sighed helplessly. There wasn't anything that she could do.

"I think you need to tell mom and dad as soon as possible, " said Victoria. She wanted to tell Sofia that Davion was returning tomorrow and no one knew what he might do when he found out that his wife was missing. In fact from Colton's reactions, Victoria could guess that even he was scared to face Davion.

"I will, maybe next week or so, " said Sofia with a shrug.

"Tell them tonight, Sofi. Davion's returning tomorrow, " she blurted out in panic.

"How do you know that, Vicky? What are you hiding from me?" Asked Sofia, dreading her answer. Victoria looked uncomfortable. She didn't wish to tell her but now it seems she had no choice.

"Colton came to meet me. He wanted you to go back to Reno tonight before Davion returned tomorrow, " said Victoria. Sofia looked at her with disbelief.

"I hope you realize that I'll never go back to Davion? He's welcome to play around with other women. He has lost me forever, " said Sofia with finality in her tone.

The door opened and their mom walked inside. "Dinner's served," she announced with a smile. They all went to the dinner table. After dinner Sofia announced that she wanted to talk to her parents. So they gathered together in the living room and Sofia told them the reality. Obviously, she didn't give much details.

"I want to file a petition for divorce, dad," said Sofia. Their dad shook his head.

"I would suggest that you talk to Davion first, Sofi," said her dad.

"Yes, talk to him, dear, " agreed her mom.

"No, there's nothing to talk about. If you both don't help me, I'll file a petition with any divorce attorney and serve Davion the divorce papers," said Sofia. "I don't want anything from him, so it should be an easy process."

Their parents looked at one another. "Okay, I'll help you with it. I don't want you to go to any other attorney," said her dad. "I know a good divorce lawyer. We can visit his office tomorrow, " said their dad. Sofia nodded.

"Thanks, dad," she said, getting up to go to her room.

"Sofi, I think you need to talk to Davion, first," suggested her mom with a sigh.

Sofia gave her an incredulous look. "Why should I talk to him, mom? I don't have time for his lies. What he has done is unforgivable, " said Sofia, whirling around and walking off to her room. Her mom heaved a sigh and looked at Victoria.

"Can you put some sense in her head?" She asked her. Victoria shook her head.

"It's an impossible task, mom," said Victoria with a sigh. She switched off her mobile as Colton's words rang in her ears. He would punish her if she didn't convince Sofia and took her back to Reno. What punishment would he give her?

The next morning, Victoria kept hidden in her room not wanting to face Colton. As long as her parents were around she knew that Colton wouldn't arrive at their house to punish her. Later when her dad and Sofia went to the lawyer, she too accompanied them just to avoid staying at home all alone.

The lawyer was very efficient and promptly took up their case. He informed them that he would serve Davion the divorce papers the next day. Satisfied, they returned home. Thankfully Victoria had been able to successfully avoid Colton the whole day. She at last switched on her mobile phone and froze seeing around 50 missed calls from Colton Glenn! What would she do? Tomorrow was college and surely Colton would come to get her. He never ever gave out idle threats.

The next day an apprehensive Victoria went to college. Afterwards she peeked out of the gate and scanned the area for Colton. Thankfully, he was nowhere to be seen. She dashed to her car, climbed into it and drove towards home. The whole day there was a strange quietness around. Sofia was in her room, upset and sulking. Strangely there were no calls from Colton. Victoria couldn’t have been happier but to her it seemed more like the calm before an impending storm.

The next two days went the same way and she was convinced that Colton had either returned to Reno or was busy with his work in Vegas. Davion had come over to their house last night but Sofia had refused to meet him. After college, Victoria walked towards her car when she collided with Colton who appeared before her out of the blue.

“Ready for your punishment?” asked an angry Colton, catching hold of her arm to stop her from fleeing. Victoria’s eyes widened with horror. Of course she remembered it but she hadn’t thought that he would actually punish her for no fault of hers. But then he was Colton Glenn, the devil and Master of injustice. What else could be expected of him?

“Why would you want to punish me? I tried to convince her but she didn’t listen to anything I said. I couldn’t abduct her to Reno, could I?” She asked with a glare. Colton’s grasp on her tightened.

“I don’t know about that. I gave you a task and you failed. You yourself suggested that I should punish you if you fail, so you should be ready to be punished,” gritted out Colton, looking angry and menacing. Victoria’s face fell and she braced herself to face her punishment. Was there any other way out?

“What do I have to do?” she asked, looking him bravely in the eye. She wouldn’t be afraid. It was another challenge and she would take it in sportingly. A strange gleam entered Colton’s eye and he seemed to soften a bit towards her.

“You will spent forty-eight hours with me, starting from now,” ordered Colton while Victoria gaped at him with horror. It was the worst possible punishment ever. How would she survive this?

“No, please not that. Can you give me another punishment?” begged Victoria. Colton shook his head vigorously.

“No, my decision is final. Give me your car keys,” said Colton. Victoria’s shoulders slumped with defeat and she handed her car keys to him. What choice did she have? Colton took them and led her towards her car. After helping her to the passenger side, Colton climbed into the driver’s seat and switched on the ignition. Victoria turned to see where he was leading her to.

“I’m abducting you to my apartment, “ said Colton with a smirk.

“But I don’t have any change of clothes to wear,” protested Victoria. She couldn’t wear the same clothes for the next forty-eight hours, could she?

“You don’t need to worry about that,” said Colton with a shrug. Victoria gave him a look.

“But I’ll have to inform my parents. What will I tell them?” asked Victoria with a puzzled look on her face.

“Tell them anything. Are you trying to say that you’ve never made any excuse to your parents and spent a night out?” asked Colton with disbelief.

“I didn’t need to cook up such an excuse. I’ve always told my parents the truth if I needed to stay out, which was at my best friend’s house,” said Victoria, glaring at him. What did he think she was? A wh*re who needed to bluff her parents to do her business? She felt angry at his judgemental statements.

“Are you trying to say that you never stayed out for sinful pleasures?” he asked with a look of disbelief on his face.

“If you mean s*x, then my answer is no,” said Victoria looking angry.

“Interesting, “ said Colton as he drove into the basement parking lot of a huge condominium.
