Chapter Twenty-Three
Georgia completed her project and heaved a sigh of relief. She remembered her last assignment at Fordsville due to which she had to face so much humiliation. She'd never allow herself to be in such a situation ever. Then she didn't have any control over the circumstances that she was in but today the circumstances were different. Today she could focus on her career and do something worthwhile with her life. Stretching her aching back, she lay down on her bed for a while when an incoming call disrupted her thoughts. As expected, it was Wyatt. Reluctantly, she received his call.
"Have you finished with your assignment?" He asked impatiently. She could clearly hear hooting and teasing going on in the background.
"No, I'm still at it. Don't wait for me, Wyatt," she told him.
"There's a party here and I need my girlfriend, dammit, " he muttered.
Georgia sighed. She felt quite uncomfortable with this girlfriend business. She didn't feel any connection with Wyatt. It felt like a forced drama.
"I can't make it tonight," she told him.
"F*ck you!" He swore under his breath and immediately disconnected the call. Georgia stared at her ceiling feeling guilty that she was being a horrible girlfriend but she didn't feel like going to his party. She disliked his friend circle who always gave her dirty glances.
Another call disrupted her thoughts. This time it was Gabrielle. Georgia knew that she would lecture her again yet she couldn't ignore Gabrielle. She accepted her call.
"Ugh, finally! What were you doing? Did you complete your project? Is that tool still with you?" Started Gabrielle in one breath till Georgia interrupted her.
"Gabby, stop. I'm at home and I've just finished my project. No, Wyatt isn't with me but he's eating my head asking me to go to his house tonight for a party as his parents are away," said Georgia. Gabrielle gasped.
"A*sh*le! I knew he was up to some mischief. I hope you aren't going there? He'll force himself on you, girl. Please don't go," warned Gabrielle in a horrified tone. Georgia rolled her eyes.
"No he won't. He's not that bad. He's quite caring and he asked me to be his girlfriend today. I think he has feelings for me," said Georgia. Gabrielle grunted with annoyance.
"Feelings? Wyatt? No way. He only has a tool and all he cares about is how to use it," said Gabrielle. "You can ask any girl on our campus. They'll tell you horrific stories if how Wyatt trapped them and discarded them like trash after the deed was done," warned Gabrielle. Georgia's face paled. Was she his next target?
"Maybe I'm different for him," she said hesitantly. Gabrielle laughed.
"Really? How are you different?" She asked impatiently.
"Forget it. Anyway, I've declined his offer. All his friends were there and he wanted me to be by his side as his girlfriend, " said Georgia with a sigh.
"Then we're going. Get ready in five minutes. I'll come down to pick you up, " said Gabrielle.
"Wait! Why did you change your mind when you just now warned me not to go there?" She asked, feeling confused. Gabrielle chuckled.
"Don't inform him that we're going. We'll take him by surprise. I want you to see with your own eyes, what he actually is," said Gabrielle. "Now get ready. We'll sneak up on Wyatt, " said Gabrielle, disconnecting the call. Georgia was apprehensive. She knew that Gabrielle was overreacting but she too wanted to prove it to Gabrielle once and for all that Wyatt really cared about her. She really couldn't fight with her best friend all her life. She was Wyatt's girlfriend today and tomorrow when he asked her to marry him, she would agree too. He was far nicer to her than Ryan ever was. Ryan never gave their relationship a name. He only took advantage of her and kissed her twice. She would one day prove it to Ryan that she had moved on.
Her bedroom door opened and Gabrielle peeped in. "Ready?" She asked, coming into her room, wearing an off shoulder black dress. Georgia nodded, looking at her burgundy body con dress.
"Good. You look ravishing. Let's go," said Gabrielle, pulling her hand along.
They reached the bottom of the stairs and her aunt Dorothy looked up with a frown. "Where are you two off to?" She asked curiously. She knew Gabrielle since she came to their house quite often.
"Aunt Dorothy. We're going to a friend's party but don't worry, we'll be home in an hour," informed Gabrielle. Aunt Dorothy nodded.
"No drinking, is that clear?" She advised her.
"Sure," they chorused and rushed out to Gabrielle's car.
"Do you know where he lives, Gabby?" Asked Georgia. Gabrielle nodded.
"I found out from some common friends, don't worry, " said Gabrielle, looking confident. She drove them to a very affluent neighborhood where huge mansions sat perched on sprawling and picturesque grounds. Gabrielle drove to the largest one of all where a party seemed to be going on. The whole avenue as well as the compounds of the property were teeming with millions of cars, parked by the party-goers.
Gabrielle parked her car at a dead end where it would be easy for them to locate if they needed to escape for some reason. "Ready? Let's go and catch Wyatt red-handed," said Gabrielle. Georgia didn't argue. She was already feeling claustrophobic seeing so many cars. She hadn't expected such a huge party. She had just thought that his closest group would be attending and that was all.
"Stick to me at all costs, girl. You'll be lost and I won't be able to save you," said Gabrielle. Georgia nodded, a strange apprehension overcoming her. Was it a good idea to come here? Would they fall into trouble? But Gabrielle seemed adamant as she caught her wrist and pulled her along.
"There's no time to have second thoughts, Georgia. I want you to be sure that the guy you're with really likes you," said Gabrielle. "If this is a normal party which I doubt it is, then he'd be drinking a bit but welcome you with open arms and then let you go home after an hour or so. That would probably prove that he truly likes you," said Gabrielle. Georgia nodded in agreement. As they walked towards the house, they could hear loud, pulsating music vibrating from inside, mixed with shouts, cheering and laughter. It looked like a wild party.
They walked up the stairs and Gabrielle pushed the door and it opened, since it wasn't locked. Georgia's eyes widened seeing boys and girls around their age, dancing, drinking and doing dirty things. The stench of alcohol and body sweat made the air in the house so toxic that it was easy to breathe.
"Hey! Would you like to go upstairs with me?" Slurred a guy into Georgia's ear, making her jump. Someone punched Gabrielle's butt and she muttered curses and whirled around and caught the drunk guys hand and twisted it, making him yelp out in pain.
"Let's go home, Gabby. I hate this party already," pleaded Georgia.
"No, we'll see the end to this," said Gabrielle, stubbornly. She walked up to a guy and fluttered her eyelashes.
"Hey handsome. Can you tell me where Wyatt is?" She purred. The guy was a mere puppet in her hands.
"What's in Wyatt, baby? I'll please you more," slurred the guy, his eyes glittering as he checked out Gabrielle's body like a leech. Gabrielle gave him a sugary sweet smile.
"I'll just greet him and then come back to you. Wait right here. This will take a minute. So where is he?" Asked Gabrielle. The guy looked around to see if anyone's listening to him.
"He's upstairs with his gang. The second room from your right. No one's allowed upstairs without Wyatt's permission. Don't tell them that I've informed you," he whispered and Gabrielle nodded.
"Don't worry. I won't tell a soul," promised Gabrielle.
The guy grinned. "Be quick, doll. I'm waiting right here," said the guy. Gabrielle winked at him and pulled Georgia along. They climbed upstairs silently with their heart beating excitedly. Georgia was scared by now as to what they might discover. After seeing the party and the way the scantily clad girls were openly making out with equally shameless girls, she wasn't feeling confident any longer.
"When I say run, you have to run as fast as you can, okay?" Whispered Gabrielle. Georgia nodded. She was unable to understand why they would need to run? But she didn't argue, her throat was already choked up with a feeling of dread.
The upstairs scene was the stark opposite of what was going on downstairs. It was obvious that no one was allowed here. All the rooms looked like they were locked up, except the second room to the right. There were strange noises and a constant sound of talking and laughing coming from within.
Gabrielle and Georgia peered inside through the small gap in the unlocked door and their eyes popped out with horror at what they saw inside!
