Chapter Ten

After Athena left to go upstairs to her room, Troy fidgeted around for a while, not feeling sleepy at all. He had no idea how he would be able to spend the night alone in his room with Athena just on the opposite side of the wall. At last he went upstairs not having anything to do downstairs. After taking a quick shower, he wore a pair of sweatpants and walked out to his terrace, staring into the darkness.

The Strip was still flooded with lights, glowing in the dark night.  There were people enjoying, having fun with their friends and girlfriends. It seemed like he was the only one without anyone to call his own. He was lonely. As he stared at them looking like ants from so far, he realized that although Athena was here, she wasn't with him. She wasn't his. Her words pierced into his soul. She only thought Brandon needed her, she had no idea how much he needed her.

To everyone, he might seem to have everything in life, but he knew how lonely he was. His parents had their own life, their own set of friends and he didn't fit in. His friends were all married and he was the only odd one out. He didn't have any siblings to spend a moment with too. Thus he felt an intense need to find himself a woman who would love him just as Arianna loved Laurence. He had met many women in his twenty-six years of life but he had never felt the pull towards them as he felt towards Athena.

He sighed into the night. He hadn't heard Athena at all. She might have already gone to sleep. "You haven't slept?" Asked Athena in a soft voice which made his body tingle with a strange excitement. He turned to face her, he found see that she was wearing the same jeans and top as she was wearing since evening. She didn't wear the shirt that he had left for her in her room.

"No," he said hoarsely. Athena blushed seeing his shirtless body under the moonlight. He was like some sculpted Greek God, his rippled body attracting her like a magnet. "You should have changed into my shirt that I kept for you in your room," he said in a husky tone, his eyes taking her in. Athena dared not go anywhere near him for fear of being scorched.

"Oh, I didn't know that it was for me, " she said shyly. "You didn't leave any shorts?" She asked, her face flushing with color. Troy looked at her with an amused look on his face.

"You'll drown in my shorts. The shirt's enough to sleep in," he said, watching her like a hawk, ready to pounce at the slightest chance.

"You have a beautiful view from here," she told him, watching the Strip as she went near the railing to get a better view.

"This is nothing compared to the view in the morning," he told her, with a small smile, as he closed the vast distance between them. He noticed that she had stood at a two arms distance from him. "You can get a view of the Arroyo Golfclub as well as the Rocky Mountains from here. The sunrise and sunsets are breathtaking, " he added, standing next to her and staring into the darkness. Athena gasped.

"Really? I'll surely see the sunrise tomorrow morning," she said, inhaling the night air which suddenly had become a little hot. She could feel the heat emanating from Troy's body as he stood quietly beside her. She had been so lost in the view that she hadn't noticed him coming closer.

"I watch it everyday yet I never get bored," he said in a hoarse whisper as if talking to himself.

"You're so lucky to be staying at such a place," it escaped her mouth involuntarily before she Gould check herself. She knew the retort that he would instantly give her.

"It's a lonely life, Athena. You wouldn't think I'm that lucky after living my life for a day," he said in the same tone, his eyes staring into the distance. Athena looked at him, seeing his empty eyes in the moonlight.

"Why? You have your parents. Go and spend sometime with them if you're lonely, " she suggested. She didn't understand how someone could be lonely with their parents being alive. Shs didn't have anyone except granny who had been sick since the day she moved into her grandparents' house, yet she wasn't complaining.

"My parents have a huge circle of friends and they're very social. I don't like the life they lead. I don't fit in there. Everytime I go, they all plan and plot to get me hooked to one of their friend's daughters," said Troy, still lost in his own world.

Athena looked at him. He really looked gorgeous from so close. How he was still single was an enigma to her! She noticed the way his eyes sparkled with a strange gleam in them, the way his soft hair tumbled onto his forehead, it's silky strands shining under the moonlight. His tanned body looked so enticing that she wanted to reach out and touch them. She wanted to feel them wrapped around her body. She wanted to feel a man's touch. She wanted Troy!

Troy's rough hand covered her soft one where she had placed it over the cemented railings of the terrace. Athena was instantly brought to her senses. Her eyes flew to his face only to find his piercing gaze watching her. Color flooded to her cheeks as she realized that he mught have caught her staring again.

"I t think I'll go inside, " she stammered but his hand didn't leave hers. His gaze burned into hers and she couldn't look away.

"Has Brandon ever kissed you, Athena?" He asked in a tortured voice, as his head dipped a little, his face now closer to her than before. Athena wanted to hide. She didn't want to tell him that they had never kissed. In fact she had never been kissed by any man in her twenty-four years of life! His eyes watched her dilemma like a hawk and hiding from him seemed impossible.

"Y yes," she lied, looking away to her hand which he held, his thumb stroking her soft ones. It created strange sensations within her, ones she liked immensely.

"Did his kisses excite you?" He asked, his hoarse voice resonating in her head. How much could she lie? She didn't know how a kiss could excite her.

"Y yes," she said, extracting her hand out of his hold. Her mind advised her to run but her body didn't follow it's directions. Troy caught her hand again before she could control her urges and run inside, far away from this hot specimen standing in front of her, discussing kisses.

"Where did he kiss you, Athena?" Asked Troy relentlessly. Athena felt like tearing her hair out having to think of more lies.

"I'm not telling you," she said, refusing to meet his eyes. Troy caught her other hand too.

"I can stand here with you the whole night. I can't sleep anyway," he told her. Athena's eyes widened at what he just told her.

"It's late, Troy. I think we should go in," she suggested. Troy shrugged.

"Okay, where? To my room, then?" He said with a smirk. Athena's eyes widened. Wait! Did he think that she was talking of going in with him?

"No, I meant that you can go in to your room while I, in mine," she explained.

"Before that you need to answer me, " he continued, stubbornly. He understood that she was lying and he wanted her to come out with the truth that Brandon had never kissed her.

"Where did he kiss you?" He asked.

"Here?" He asked touching her neck with his warm finger. Athena's body trembled as a shot of electricity coursed through her. She shook her head. Troy trailed his finger softly to the sweet spot below her ear.

"Here?" He asked in a husky tone. Athena shook her head. His finger trailed upwards to her chin causing goosebumps to erupt all over her.

"Here?" He asked more huskily than ever. Athena trembled at his gentle touch, loving the feel of his rough fingers on her body. She shook her head in anticipation. Troy traced his fingers upwards and Athena's breath hitched as his thumb touched her lips, parting them with expertly. Athena closed her eyes as he teased her lips, his eyes inches away from hers. Escape wasn't possible, not that she wanted to anyway.

"Here?" He asked in a hoarse whisper. Athena shook her head. She couldn't take it anymore. She could lie any more.

"Didn't he kiss you?" Asked Troy, teasing her mouth, making her surrender to his touch. Athena shook her head, opening her eyes which looked drunk with desire.

"No, he never kissed me. Did you get your answer? Good night, Troy, " she said, ready to flee now but Troy had other plans. He crushed her into his arms, flush against his body while he smashed his mouth to hers, hungrily like a starved lion.
