Chapter Twenty-One

The moment Leo went outside the cabin, Lisa messaged Sofia but she wasn't online. In fact Lisa noticed that she had no internet connection on her phone. So she just decided to send Sofia an SMS but to her dismay there was not mobile network either. Still she typed two messages and tried to send it but couldn't.

Lisa-Tell Laurence the truth now.

Lisa-Save me from Leo please. He wants sex. He's holding me captive at a log cabin in Deadman canyon, nearly 4 miles down the trail after the Limestone spires.

She quickly kept her phone back and got up to inspect the cabin. There weren't any bedroom doors, it was an open plan layout. There was a small sleeping area with only a double bed and a nightstand with a chest of drawers at one side and a small desk on the other. There was a small washroom near the bedroom area. There was a small bar with a tiny kitchen beside the living area. She opened the cabinets at the bar, they looked stocked up to her surprise. Did Leo come here regularly? She looked around and saw that the cabin did look kind of lived in. Maybe Leo's friend did come here regularly.

Leo came back carrying some food items and groceries. "These should be enough, for a few days. What do you think?" He asked her with a casual smile. Lisa was confused. She couldn't fathom Leo's plans. She didn't want to stay and find out. She had to escape Leo, but how? Maybe when he slept at night she could run away. The next few hours Leo cleaned the cabin and arranged the groceries while she sat outside on the porch thinking of an escape plan.

It was six o'clock in the evening and Leo hummed a tune and made dinner while Lisa stood at the door of the cabin looking outside for escape routes. Even if she ran all night she couldn't reach the trailhead by morning and Leo could easily catch up with her in his car. So that option was ruled out. It was useless looking since she would be lost if she didn't follow the trail. She came back to sit on the couch in the living room, aware of Leo's dirty gaze upon her.

"It's no use Lisa.  Come and help me with dinner," ordered Leo impatiently. Lisa gaped at him with shock. Did he know that she was making plans of escaping?

"I'm not hungry Leo. I just want to go home, " she sighed. Leo looked at her with disapproval.

"Here I'm trying to help you out and all you can do is grumble, " said Leo glaring at her. "How many days are you planning to go hungry, Lisa?" He asked.

"Days? How many days are you planning to stay here?" Asked Lisa shocked.

"Till you give me what I want, " said Leo with a fierce determination. Lisa knew that he wasn't joking. He was actually keeping her here against her will to compel her to have sex with him. She was scared not knowing to what extent he would go to get what he wanted.

"I can't give you that Leo,  ask me anything else please ," pleaded Lisa.

"Marry me then," he shrugged and Lisa froze at his words.

"Don't destroy my life Leo, I beg  of you, " she pleaded. "I love Liam,  you know it."

Leo switched off the flame and walked towards her with a grim face as Lisa backed away from him. Her back hit the wall and she felt defenseless. "Don't come near me Leo. If you're my friend you cannot force me to have sex with you," she told him but he seemed to be in a different mood altogether. He came closer and placed him arms on either side of her.

"You don't get it do you? I have loved you for years and now I will make you mine so that you're branded for life. I won't let you go to Liam. I will tarnish you for life and no other man will ever accept you, not even Liam. You're mine, have you got it?" He hissed out, his fingers touching her cheeks.

"You're a monster Leo. I had no idea. I thought you were my friend," said Lisa as hot tears poured down her eyes. The plan to escape now was firm in her head. She would flee tonight the moment Leo fell asleep. Leo laughed and released her.

"I'm your everything. Come and have dinner," he said holding her hand and leading her to the small cozy dining table, near the kitchen. Lisa tried to extricate her hand but couldn't.

"You eat your food. I'm not hungry," she said, wrenching her hand free. Leo walked to the kitchen and served the Pasta Carbonara that he had made into a plate and brought it to the table. He caught Lisa's wrist and pulled her onto his lap much to her surprise.

"Leo, let me go," she struggled against his strength. He held her tightly against him.

"Eat your food else I would have to feed you," he said pushing the plate and a glass of water towards her. Lisa sighed and picked up her fork. Leo placed her down and went to get his own food. Lisa ate two spoonful of the food but the water tasted strange.

"What water is this? It doesn't taste like water," she said smelling the glass of water.

"Spring water, you can't expect mineral water here, can you?" asked Leo giving her an exasperated look.

Lisa didn't argue further although she was puzzled that spring water tasted so weird. She ate whatever little she could and went to the kitchen to rinse her plate but her head started spinning. She caught hold of the kitchen counter to steady herself but couldn't.

"What happened Lisa?" Asked Leo coming up from behind and steadying her. Lisa's vision blurred and she felt the strength leave her and she couldn't even support herself to walk to the couch. She watched the smug expression on Leo's face and thought about the water she drank. Did he spike the water? Leo picked her up effortlessly and she was powerless to object. She couldn't move her limbs to stop him, watching him stride off towards the bed much to her horror.

"Leo, no. Please lle let mmme gggo," she slurred helplessly but Leo did not listen to her pleas. He looked more like a demon than her childhood friend. Tears fell from her eyes as she lost consciousness from fear, stress, heartbreak and shock.

An excruciating pain down there woke Lisa up with a start. She looked around her to realize where she was. It was 2:30 in the morning and she was lying in the cabin. It was dark except for a dim night lamp but what disturbed her  was the throbbing pain between her legs. She touched the region and to her horror found blood on her fingers. Looking at herself she was shocked to see that she was completely naked. Lisa closed her eyes as the harsh reality hit her. Leo had raped her in her unconscious state! She opened her eyes wide with disbelief. How could he do such a heinous thing to her? He was her childhood friend! She saw that he was sleeping beside her on the bed.

Lisa felt like throwing up with disgust. She felt violated and sick. Her whole body revolted at the sight of the monster in disguise lying beside her. If she could she would have murdered him in his sleep.  She got up, wincing in pain. She wouldn't stay here one minute after this. She slowly picked up her clothes from the floor and wore them. Then picking up her backpack, phone, a bottle of water and some biscuits she walked to the door. On second thoughts, she picked up a few nails lying near a painting which might have come away from it's place on the wall. Going outside she locked the gate from outside and then went to Leo's car and punctured all the tyres. She couldn't find the car keys else she would have taken them and escaped in the car.

She checked her phone. It was dead as she had forgotten to get the charger along with her. Nevertheless, she walked down the trail as fast as her tired legs could carry her. The pain between her legs was too much to bear but still she walked on. She had to get away from here. She had to get away from Leo. He had damaged her body as well her soul and she would go to the police and lodge a complaint against him. Lisa felt angry at herself for trusting the demon himself. How could she have been blind to his real motive?

Her body felt numb as she walked. She stopped to throw up whatever was in her stomach. A splitting headache was catching on. She sipped the water and kept going. She couldn't afford to give up. The trail stretched on and on before her and the pale morning light trickled through the trees. She might have walked for  three hours. Was she lost?
