Chapter Fourteen

Laurence freshened up and joined them at the dining table after sometime. "Well, I would be going away to France this Monday. It's a two month long trip and it could take me longer too. We're expanding to all the major cities and setting up a production house in Paris," he told them as Lisa listened to him with dismay.  Without him around, she couldn't stay at his apartment. Her mom would drag her back downstairs.

"Then I could go to my dad house till you return, " said Serenity. Lisa listened to them quietly. Now she had to come up with a different plan to escape her parents.

"Yes, why not?" Said Laurence as he looked at Lisa. "So Lisa,  how are your studies going on?" He asked casually.

"Fine bro," she told him.

"I have a headache,  I'll go and rest," said Laurence, excusing himself from the table after finishing his soup and steak. They nodded at him quietly. Lisa couldn't tell him about the music classes even though she wanted to. Afterwards she retired to the room Serenity had given her and went to sleep thinking about meeting Liam the next day.

The next day, Lisa waited patiently for her school to be over so that she could meet Liam. The whole morning she had successfully avoided all interactions with her mom and was glad to hear from Sandra that her mom had a bad hangover. It was obvious that her mom was fine and not sick and dying as she portrayed herself in front of Laurence. Finally, school was done for the day and she rushed out to the back gate to look for Liam. She grinned seeing him astride his motorcycle waiting for her to emerge. She ran and went straight into his outstretched arms, her arms going around his neck. Liam loved the greeting he always received. She made him feel so special.  He held her slim, curvy body close to him, embedding his face into her hair.

"I missed you so much," he said and she giggled.

"Your nose is tickling me, ha ha, " she laughed as others stared at the crazy duo. Her genuine laugh sounded like music to his ears.

"And now?" He asked with a chuckle rubbing his nose more into her neck.

"Stop Liam, ha ha," she laughed more. Liam chuckled at her cuteness and released her.

"Close your eyes, I have something for you," said Liam and Lisa squealed and closed her eyes. Liam took out a small note upon which he had scribbled poem for her.

Lisa took it from him and read it thrice.  Then she looked up at him with hope shining in her eyes. Maybe he really meant what he wrote. Maybe there was hope for a better tomorrow for her and Liam. Liam stared at her upturned face with longing.

"You really mean it?" She whispered.

"Yes Lisa," he said quietly, his glance watching her minutely as if trying to memorize every feature and mark on her face. "Come what may never give up on us," he added softly. Lisa stood on her toes softly pecked his cheek.

"I won't. I'll wait for you forever Liam. Will you come again tomorrow?" She asked him.

"Yes," he promised. Lisa smiled at him.

"Bye," she whispered.

"Bye Lisa, " answered Liam, quietly watching her go.  A sixth sense had been warning him since last night. He had sensed that something was bothering her but he wasn't sure. He wanted to ask her but couldn't get to start the topic. What if she didn't want to share?

Lisa returned home and went straight up to Laurence's floor. Till Sunday at least she could take shelter there.  She heard Laurence talking to his best friend Troy Wagner about buying a house which Troy had checked out for him. Lisa felt happy at the news. When Laurence returned maybe he was thinking of shifting into his own house. She too would go and live with him. Then she would be free from the clutches of her mom.

The next day too she waited patiently for school to be over so that she could see Liam again. It was the best and the most awaited ten minutes of the day for her. As Saturday approached she started dreading what her mom would force her to do and if she disobeyed, the punishment that she would inflicted upon her. She wanted to discourage Liam from coming over to her house but couldn't since it was his sister's house too and he had the right to visit her there. At last school was over and she rushed out to the back gate but to her surprise there was no Liam waiting for her. She paced the pavement for ten minutes but he still didn't arrive. Lisa felt close to tears. She called his number but no one answered. After a minute, he sent a message that his extra classes were going on at college and he was unable to take her call or come to see her. He promised to call her at night. Lisa returned home and quickly freshened up and completed her homework. She wanted to keep herself free for Liam's call.

It was 7 o'clock in the evening when the doorbell rang and Lisa opened it thinking it to be Laurence but she was stunned to see Liam standing at the doorstep. "Hi, I'm sorry to keep you waiting," he said, stretching his arms out for her. She rushed into them and clung to him like always. Liam wrapped his arms around her.

"What a pleasant surprise! Come on inside, little brother," said Serenity with a grin. Liam released Lisa and glared at his sister.

"You little brother's grown up. I'll soon become an uncle," he corrected her and Lisa giggled.

"Oh yes," said Serenity giving up. She led him to the living room. "Coffee?" Asked Serenity.

"Sure," said Liam.

"Lisa's staying with us for a few days. She plays the violin beautifully, you must hear her play," said Serenity, going into the kitchen to make coffee.

"Oh yes, you promised to play for me," Liam said, remembering her promise.

"Okay, I'll go and get it," she said but Liam too followed her to her room. The moment he went inside he closed the door and caught Lisa's wrist.

"Kiss me Lisa, please," he begged her, pulling her close into his arms. Lisa shyly reached up to oblige him with a kiss but Liam couldn't wait any longer. He smashed his lips to hers in a wildly passionate and hungry kiss. Lisa opened her mouth to him and he eagerly plunged his tongue inside her mouth tasting her sweetness, drowning into her. Lisa to kissed him back as she caressed the soft, silky hair at the nape of his neck. Liam groaned and pulled her tightly into him, moulding her to himself. His mouth devoured her, trying to prove how much he was going crazy for her.  A soft knock made him break the kiss and stare at the door. It should be Serenity with his coffee.

Liam released her and went to open the door while Lisa started taking out her violin from it's cover. "Sorry to disturb but the coffee's getting cold bro," said Serenity with  grin.

"Thanks, come on inside Sera and listen to Lisa play, " invited Liam.

Lisa sat on a couch and closed her eyes and started playing, 'My heart will go on' from the movie Titanic. Liam and Serenity sat transfixed to their spots listening to her play. It was the most soulful music they had ever heard, as if all her heart and soul was into it, mesmerizing those who listened, making them drown in her magic. The song ended and she opened her eyes, placing her violin back into it's box.

"It was the most beautiful piece I've ever heard," said Liam awed by her talent.

"Yes, you're exceptionally talented Lisa, " said Serenity. The doorbell rang and Serenity went to open it. It was Penny Lennard whose fake laughter could be heard from Lisa's room. She strode into the room and glared at Lisa.

Then she turned to Liam and flashed her fake smile at him. "Hello Liam, so good to see you again. Why don't come downstairs and have dinner with us? Later Lisa could show you her room downstairs, " said Penny Lennard with a nervous laugh. Liam was confused. What was this urgency to see Lisa's room downstairs? Lisa looked uncomfortable in her mom's presence.

"I'm in a hurry tonight, aunt Penny. I'll have dinner some other day, if you don't mind," said Liam trying to avoid her offer.

"Oh that's too bad. Then let's fix it for Saturday?" Asked Penny Lennard. She was a leech who never gave up.

"Sure," said Liam, waving at them and leaving. He wasn't sure why he felt uncomfortable in Penny Lennard's presence.

"Lisa come down now. I need to talk to you," said her mom scowling at her. The moment Serenity entered the room, her mom's expression changed immediately like the colour of a chameleon. " I was just asking Lisa to have dinner with us old parents but these teenagers don't listen. They don't care about their lonely parents," she said with a sad smile, walking towards the door.

"Lisa I'm waiting, " she said, before disappearing.
