Chapter Sixteen
"Ow," she said placing her palms on his chest to create some distance between themselves. "Jaxon what are you doing?" She whispered when he picked her up and carried her to the couch.
He sat down and placed her on his lap, straddling him. "Kissing you, it's all I can think about since yesterday, " he said, his mouth sucking her throat. He unbuttoned her blazer and took it off and placed it on the sofa beside him. She was lost for words as he continued to trace his tongue along her neck, throat and jawline till he captured her lips roughly in a passionate kiss.
She kissed him back like a reflex action and he groaned with pleasure. The kiss turned from rough to wild, his hand holding her flush against his body, moulding her to his hard erection. His mouth was relentless as it devoured her, thrust into her hot mouth, sucked her sweetness.
His mouth finally left hers and trailed to her cleavage. "Oh Jaxon, " she moaned, closing her eyes.
A knock on the door made her jump up from his lap. Jaxon muttered curses and fixing himself, he went to unlock the door. The spectacled receptionist stood outside.
"Sir, the media's here at the conference room, " he informed Jaxon.
"Yes, thank you Phil. I'll be there in five minutes," he said, closing the door when Phil left.
He turned towards her,"You stay in your cubicle and complete the work I've sent you. I'm going to deal with the media. Don't come to the conference room. This is serious, okay?" He instructed her seriously.
"Okay, " she answered. He opened the door and led her outside.
"Phil, this is Carmella Parker as you know. She's my PA. Please show her to her workstation," he ordered before striding off to the elevator.
"Come Ms Parker, I'll show you to your office," Phil said walking towards the small office next to Jaxon's.
"Please call me Carmella," she said with a smile.
"Yes that would be best. You look so young. Are you a student?" He asked curiously.
"Yes, I'm in my final year," she informed him.
"Final year of undergraduate course or postgraduate course?" He asked, peering at her from over his spectacles.
"Undergraduate course in fashion designing, " she informed him.
His jaws dropped."Hey you're very very young," he grinned. Carmella smiled shyly and went to her desk. She started the laptop and Phil helped her with the password. "You carry on, I'll get back to work, " he said and left to handle the reception. She checked the mail that Jaxon sent her.
She started doing the work that he sent her but her mind was on what Jaxon told her. What could possibly be going on at the conference room? Why did Jaxon warn her not to go there? She was puzzled by what he told her. He said that it was serious.
She was engrossed in her work when Jaxon called her over the intercom. She saw that it was lunch time already. She rushed to his room with her tablet.
"Sit Carmella. I can see that you haven't eaten lunch yet. Join me," he offered, pushing a plate filled with salad and a sandwich towards her.
"I've completed the work that you had sent me sir," she told him. When he didn't respond, she looked up at his worried face.
"Is there any problem sir?" she asked, worriedly.
"No, but today at the press conference, two reporter's asked me about you at the live event, " he said and Carmella was interested to know how he dealt with it.
"I didn't want the world to get a negative image about me as well as you so I told them that we are dating and are seriously considering marriage soon," he informed her, checking her reaction.
Carmella's jaws dropped. What? He told the press that? Seeing her speechless, Jaxon shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Will that be too much of a problem for you Carmella?" He asked quietly.
Carmella came out of her trance. "No I guess not," she said shyly and Jaxon released the breath that he was holding.
"I was so worried that you would react differently and go all against me," he said with a smile. "Hope you understand what this implies?"
"I don't get you. What does it imply?" She asked confusedly.
"It implies that we have to behave like a couple in love everywhere and in front of everyone. You will have to call me by my name, " he explained to a wide-eyed Carmella.
"Oh," she said and Jaxon looked at her with disbelief.
"That is all you have to say?" He asked with smile.
"I don't know what to say. How long do we have to continue this lie?" She asked him with interest.
"It's not a lie altogether. I like you more than I've ever liked anyone else in my life. I can feel that you like me too. If I ever marry, it would be only to you. I don't do relationships but after meeting you, I want to be in a relationship with you. So we can actually explore this feeling we have for one another. Please give me a chance. Please be my girlfriend, Carmella?" He asked, holding her hands in his.
"Yes Jaxon, " she said as a happy smile spread over her face.
"Come here," he called her softly, his eyes blazing with emotions. Emotions that she wanted to explore with him. She got up from her seat and went over to him. He pulled her into his lap, crushing her close, embedding his face into her chest. "I can feel your heart beating for me. Am I right?" He asked softly.
"Yes it is beating for you," she whispered. He looked up at her and crashed his lips to hers. This kiss was so different, it was a possessive one, gentle, soft, lingering. It was branding. It was at that moment that she realised that she had fallen in love with this man. A love which was strong, true and for life. There couldn't be another in this lifetime for her.
The realisation made her want to kiss him back with wild abandon as if it was the last kiss of her life. Jaxon surrendered to her, no one had ever kissed him with so much love. He melted into her and just let the warmth of her seep into his whole body. All thoughts of time and surroundings evaporated out of their heads as they explored their feelings for one another.
Jaxon was glad that she didn't overreact to his little desperate act with the media. He loved her and wanted her all to himself. So when the media people directly bombarded him with questions about his lady love, he decided that he would tell the world that he loved her and would marry her soon. There was no point in hiding his feelings for her. It was only later that he realized what he had done.
He was apprehensive of her reaction and didn't know how to go ahead and inform her of his goof-up. However, he released a sigh of relief when she took it well and agreed to be his girl, like he always wanted.
A knock on the door made him groan with displeasure. Carmella got down and fixed herself while Jaxon went to open the door. An apologetic Phil stood there,"Sorry to disturb you sir. There's a woman called Dana Rockwell wanting to meet you. She says it's urgent," he informed.
Jaxon's face turned red with fury. "What the hell does she want? Tell her I'm busy. Don't let her come up. Tell her I'll contact her later when I'm free," he growled and Phil trembled.
"Yes sir. I'll handle this. Don't worry," he said, walking away towards the elevators. Jaxon closed the door and came back to his seat. What could Dana want from him now? He hadn't visited her for the past six months as he was touring all over the world and didn't have anytime for anything else.
Carmella was confused by his behaviour. "Who's Dana Rockwell?" She asked in confusion. Why was he reacting this way to her?
"She's a bartender who I had met long back. She was willing and I had needed a release so I had sex a few times with her. But for the last six months, I had been touring the world, too busy for anything else. She was in need of money and I had paid her a lumpsum to quieten her. But now, she might have heard that I'm back and she's here for, I don't know what. Money, maybe," he said shrugging his shoulders.
"I don't like the sound of it. Do you think she'll cause trouble?" Asked a worried Carmella.
"I don't think so. Anyways I'll tighten the security around the office. Don't worry my little girlfriend. You're the only one for me now. You do trust me, don't you, Carmella?" He asked, coming forward and pulling her into his arms.
"Yes Jaxon. I trust you more than I do myself, " she said hugging his torso. Jaxon breathed another sigh of relief. She was so innocent and had such a kind heart and a pure soul, just like an angel, his angel.
