Chapter Three
Tyler sat at his huge desk at his office waiting impatiently for Oscar Greene's update. He was twenty minutes late and Tyler hated tardiness. Single handedly managing their famous multinational huge hotel empire spanning the entire globe, he had tasted success at a young age of twenty nine. Drumming his fingers on his table he thought about the last two years of his life. His world had turned upside down in the last two years and he was glad that it was all over now.
A knock on his door brought him out of his reverie. "Come in," he said and an apologetic Oscar entered the room.
"Sorry, Tyler, no, don't say anything. I got late collecting the latest information which would be of utmost interest to you, " said Oscar with a smirk.
"Spill, " said Tyler impatiently.
"River Ann Wilson is in town and it seems she's returned to Vegas permanently. Today she joined their hotel business. She's staying with her brother Russell," informed an excited Oscar.
"I see. Is this confirmed?" Asked Tyler excitedly.
"Hundred percent, " said a grinning Oscar.
"You'll get your payment Oscar," said Tyler with a smirk. He couldn't contain his excitement. At last she was back.
"Should I continue shadowing her, Tyler? Or would you take over now?" Asked Oscar, with a knowing grin.
"I'll take over. If I need you, I'll call," said Tyler.
"Ok, then. See you. Catch up, later," said Oscar and left Tyler's office.
Tyler sat down thinking of River. The day he met her first. Although she was just thirteen, he was infatuated with her. Her sweetness, her fresh innocence had bowled him over. He kept thinking of ways to spend time with her. That night when she confessed her love for him was the best day of his life. He was too overwhelmed to say something to her. When he came to his senses, she had left.
For the entire weekend, he dreamt of her, thinking of ways to tell her that he liked her immensely and would wait for her to grow up. When he finally went to her school to meet her, he learnt that she had left Vegas forever. Her parents had shifted away. An upset Carmella returned home.
For the next few years he found out about her from Carmella. Then when she grew older and joined a college in Huntsville, he asked Oscar Greene who was a private investigator to keep track of River and update him. He was happy to know that River didn't have a boyfriend ever. The infatuation he nurtured had turned into a deep feeling of love and he knew there was no one else for him, but her. He excitedly waited for her to complete her studies. He would pursue her when she finished her college.
His plans were shattered when one fateful night he drank too much with his old college friends. When he woke up he found the wicked witch Meredith Simmons all over his body in a hotel room. She was a bitch that he always avoided since his college days. She was after his family wealth and wanted him to give her a push in her career with his many contacts.
He had forgotten about the incident when she suddenly posted on social media about her alleged pregnancy and marriage to Tyler. His reputation and their business goodwill was at stake and he had to act fast. The family pressure made him marry her only to realise later that it was all fake. It was then that he repented not doing a paternity test before marriage.
The unexpected arrival of River to Vegas then shattered him. He saw that he had hurt her. He saw her pale ashen face when Carmella introduced her to Meredith. He wanted to tell River that he loved her but she just went away. He didn't see her and Oscar informed him that she had gone back to her parents.
He became too busy with his divorce proceedings and at last he got rid of Meredith from his life.
He picked up his mobile phone as an idea came to his mind. "Hey Oscar, I've got work for you. Just find out everything about River's family hotel and the hardships that it's facing. And quick. I want the information by tomorrow morning, " he said, fiddling with his pen. He disconnected the call and grinned happily.
"It would be just a matter of a few weeks and you'll be in my arms, River, " he swore to himself.
He couldn't wait for Oscar's update, he was so overwhelmingly happy. He now had to find a way to be able to see her everyday, to be able to talk to her everyday, to be able to see her everyday.
The whole night thoughts of River invaded his mind and he tossed and turned with a silly smile on his face. Last when he had seen her, she'd grown extremely beautiful. He hadn't been able to erase the image of her from his mind. Her body had filled up and become deliciously curvy and he had drunk her in. But she was oblivious to her looks and the effect it had upon him. She was still naive and untouched just like she was when she had confessed her love for him. She was his to love, his to touch and soon he would claim what was his. He wondered whether she still loved him.
The next morning a grinning Oscar arrived in his office an hour early. Tyler rolled his eyes. "Spill Oscar, " he said, going straight to the point. They had become good friends after working together for so many years.
"Aren't you impatient?" He grinned again. When he saw Tyler's expression, he said,"Ok, so I have a detailed report about The Imperial, that's their hotel, in this file," he said, handing Tyler a blue file.
"To summarise, the hotel is popular and has a good reputation. It is 25 years old and in need of repairs and renovations. The Wilson brothers don't have much funds to get it done. They need a good collaboration with someone trustworthy who could help them with this," said Oscar and Tyler smiled at him.
He had found a way to see his River everyday. He would collaborate with their business and be their partner. What would he want in return? River.
"Thank you Oscar. You deserve a treat," he said with a grin.
"That sounds great, dude. Just tell me when and where and I'll be there, " he said and got up to leave with a slight wave of his hand..
After he left, Tyler sat back and called The Imperial.
"I am Tyler Jed Parker from the Staywell Group of Companies who own the Parker Suites all over the world. I want the contact details of your owners," he said and the receptionist gave him Russell's contact details. He thanked her and disconnected the call with a smile on his face.
"Wait for me, River. I'm coming to get you," he grinned, happily.
