Chapter Two
Carol opened her eyes groggily the next morning. Her head felt as if a million bricks had fallen over it. The hangover pain felt worse than she could ever imagine. As she tried to focus around her, a gasp escaped her mouth as she realised that she was in an unknown room, on an unknown bed.
Where was she? She couldn't remember a thing about yesterday night. She had been drinking with her friends. Where were they?
She stared at the soft duvet covering her. Uncovering herself slowly, she froze when she realised what she was wearing. A freaking shirt! It was obvious that the shirt belonged to a man. She was completely naked under the shirt. Her face flushed with colour as she panicked and sat up. Did she do it with a stranger last night?
"Good morning, wifey," said a husky male voice. Turning, she froze when her eyes met the man she saw last night at the club. What was his name? Yes, Maxwell Stephens. Handsome was an understatement for him, he was sinfully gorgeous, droolworthy actually.
His bare rippling body was clad only in a towel as he came out of the ensuite, obviously fresh from a shower. Water droplets trickled down from his hard, toned, muscular body, disappearing into his towel.
Realising that she was staring, she looked up into his eyes, too embarrassed to speak. "All yours, wifey," he stated in a husky tone, his eyes staring at her with amusement.
"I I, why am I here?" She asked in confusion. Why did he keep calling her "wifey "?
"Where else will you be after our wedding last night?" He informed her with a wink.
She sat staring at him open mouthed at his declaration. Wedding? Last night?
"What wedding?" She asked in confusion when she calmed herself down.
"Our wedding, wifey. You and I got married yesterday night. You begged me to marry you," he said with a smirk, coming closer and caressing her chin with his forefinger.
"Don't you dare touch me, " she hissed, moving herself away. "I did no such thing. Why should I beg you, the biggest of all the arrogant jerks in the universe?" She yelled in frustration.
"Oh that wasn't what you said last night, wifey. You begged me to make love to you," he stated, coming closer to her.
"Stay away from me," she screamed in panic. "I can't beg for such a thing ever."
"Why? Are you into women too?" He asked with a smirk.
"What rubbish! No I'm very much straight," she informed angrily. He was playing with her head and she needed to think straight.
"Glad to hear it, wifey. I'll keep you satisfied and in my bed, forever," he promised in a low husky tone.
"Shut up, jerk. Where are my clothes?" She demanded, the duvet pulled up to her chin. He chuckled and came closer, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"You don't need to cover yourself, wifey. There's nothing that I haven't seen so far," he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"W what d do you m mean?" She stammered. Did he strip her? Did he change her? Oh God this was the worst day of her life. It was so embarrassing.
"After our wedding, you threw up and I got rid of your clothes and cleaned you. Then I put my shirt on you. Not that I wanted to, but you would freak out in the morning if I left you in nothing," he said with another irritating smirk.
Carol simply stared at him dumbfounded. She opened her mouth to speak but no word came out. She simply closed her eyes at the humiliation.
"Just give me my clothes and I'm out of here forever, " she said, still with her eyes closed.
Maxwell simply stared at the beauty in front of him. She looked so gorgeous with her innocent wide eyes, translucent, creamy skin and chocolate brown locks tumbling down her shoulders. Her lips. Oh he had dreamt of kissing them the whole evening and night. He didn't get a wink of sleep last night. Her gorgeous bare body was wrapped around his own as she slept soundly. He simply stared at her all night, his mind only thinking of ways to make love to her.
But he didn't take advantage. She wasn't in her right senses. He married her when she told him that her parents had died and she was forced by her legal guardian to marry him. The girl was just twenty, six years younger than him. He had brought her home and when she threw up, changed her and put her to sleep.
He took three cold showers and another in the morning but still it didn't help.
"You're my wife. You aren't going anywhere, " he said as he got up and walked to his closet.
"I don't believe you. Give me my clothes, you jerk, " she yelled frustrated at him.
"You wish to wear those soiled clothes? Go ahead, they're in the ensuite, " he said, coming out of the closet wearing a sweatpant and a tee shirt.
Carol felt close to tears,"Get out of the room. I need to shower," she yelled angrily.
"I could help you like I did last night," he suggested and Carol's eye went wide like saucers.
"You you, just go," she said in frustration.
Maxwell chuckled and walked out of his bedroom. He was feeling all excited and for the first time in twenty-six years of life, he was feeling like his life was worth living. He didn't wish to go out of the room. He wanted to see her again, he wanted to touch her naked body again. He loved the feel of her in his arms.
He thanked her friends who had forgotten her and left her behind. She was his now and he would rather die than be separated from her.
Smiling to himself, he hummed a tune as he walked towards the kitchen. The phone in his pocket buzzed. He took it out. It was Carol's phone. Was her guardian calling her? Or her friends?
Checking he saw that her friend Julie was calling. He took the call. They would be worried about her.
"Hello, Maxwell Stephens here," he said, in an irritated tone.
A woman's voice answered. "Where's Carol? Why do you have her number?" She asked in a rude and angry tone.
"You didn't remember her yesterday night. She's with me. Is that all?" He asked in a bored tone.
"Where's she? I need to talk to her. Tell me your location. We'll come to pick her up," asked the woman named Julie, solemnly.
"Carol isn't going anywhere. She's sleeping now," he answered, bored with the conversation.
"Who are you to decide where Carol will go? Tell me your address, " said Julie angrily.
"I'm her husband. We got married yesterday night. So you see why she won't go anywhere? If that's all, I need to go," he said, disconnecting the call.
He knew that half the population of Vegas knew him because he was a Vegas based billionaire who owned many clubs, hotels and casinos here. Her friends would hunt him down and take Carol away from him. He had to think hard.
He waited for his housekeeper to arrive with Carol's clothes. Then he would go away to his island and stay there till things cooled down.
