Chapter Twenty
The next day they were busy shopping for their wedding outfits and rings. The decor would be kept simple and the marriage officiant and a photographer was already booked. They would get married on a private stretch of Rosemary beach rented by the local wedding planning agency. It would be an evening ceremony at 5 o'clock, an hour before the sunset. Both were very excited. At last their dream of being with each other forever would come true.
They had a booking at a fancy restaurant nearby for dinner. Vincent had requested for a small wedding cake to be served to them.
The next day, the agency sent an attendant to Julianna ready. She wore an a-line chiffon casual wedding dress with a cinched waist, sweeping train and spaghetti straps. The lace veil added a romantic touch to her look. She chose simple white roses in a classic bridal boutique.
Vincent looked dashing in a beige linen suit with a white shirt, open at the neck. He winked at her and they walked hand in hand to their makeshift altar near the oceanfront.
The wooden arbor looked grand decorated with fresh floral arrangements. Fresh red rose petals were strewn on the aisle way as Vincent walked her along it. Theirs wasn't a conventional wedding. Julianna didn't have her parents to walk her down the aisle, but still this wedding meant the world to her.
The ceremony was touching and they were united together in holy matrimony. The vows were for their ears alone, for them to remember and follow as long as they lived.
The wedding ceremony was over just as the sun was about to set and the newlyweds posed for beautiful photographs to cherish forever.
Afterwards they went to the restaurant to celebrate in their own special way. They cut the cake and fed each other. They enjoyed a delicious dinner and walked hand in hand back to the house.
"How do you feel wifey?" Asked Vincent.
"Blissful, " she said and he grinned, pecking her lips.
"And you?" She asked.
"Horny," he said with a wink. Julianna rolled her eyes. "Now's the part I'd been waiting for all my life. Our wedding night," he added with a grin.
"Seriously?" She asked.
"Just kidding. I will turn every night into our wedding night," he said with a look full of desire. They reached the house and the moment he closed the door, he picked his wife up and carried her to the bedroom.
They made love and talked and finally slept. It was the best night of their lives. They spent the next few days blissful and very much in love with each other.
Finally it was time for them to return and face the music. They hadn't done anything wrong. They took a flight back to Austin, to Vincent's apartment. After a day, Vincent's dad came to visit them. He blessed them and had lunch with them.
Julianna's parents too came to visit them. They had a huge argument but ultimately they too accepted their relationship. However they wanted to get them married again, the traditional way at Austin amidst family and friends. Vincent and Julianna tried to show their disinterest but her parents wouldn't hear a word.
Sarah too came to meet her. She had been very worried about her when she found out that Julianna was missing. She was about to report her missing when Steve Clement informed her the truth.
Vincent's mom also came to meet them. She was furious and after banging the door shut after her, she turned towards Julianna and spewed venom.
"You bitch, how dare you elope with my son? You made him resign from my company? You are the reason why he left home. You made him break all ties with me," she shouted, striding towards her, and then slapping her on her cheek.
Julianna fell to the sofa from the fierceness of the slap. Vincent came hurrying from the ensuite after hearing his mom's voice.
He saw his mom hit Julianna and he started seeing red."Mom, don't you dare hit my wife," he threatened.
"Your wife? You call that bitch your wife? How dare she force you to elope with her leaving my Sienna all alone at the altar. She's your own sister, woman. How could you do this to her?" His mom screamed.
"Don't you dare say a bad word against Julianna. I abducted her and escaped the wedding. Julianna didn't see me or talk to me for two years because you had threatened her dad. Remember?" He yelled at his mom.
"If anyone is responsible for this. You are. You have forced us in this marriage. Sienna was pregnant with the baby of the man she loves, my best friend Bronson Summers. Did you know that? Her life was a living hell. I saved her by abducting Julianna and then marrying her," said Vincent and his mom's face fell.
"You can give the company to whoever you want mom. I'm tired of your threats. I will take up a job somewhere, " he said, going to Julianna and helping her up from the sofa.
"You can't resign from the company," his mom said, incredulously.
"I already have. Before you accuse Julianna let me inform you she didn't know anything about it. I told her only while proposing," he said. He wanted his mom to leave. He was tired of this constant need to explain himself all the time. She never congratulated or blessed them. Only accusations. That was all his mom ever did.
"This isn't the end Vincent. I'm disappointed in you," she said before leaving the apartment.
Vincent consoled an upset Julianna. For him it was the end. He didn't want anything to do with his mom.
The wedding preparations were going on at Julianna's house and they needed to cooperate with them. Julianna's dad had gone to Travis Springs to meet Sienna and returned home late in a foul mood.
There was only one thing to take care of. Patch up with Sienna and clear all misunderstandings.
