Chapter Ten

The sheriff arrested Edward Wellington and his entire staff when they raided his house. They found crude diamonds from the built-in hidden safe in his own bedroom.

Since Bob was missing at Wellington's  house, the sheriff and his men waited patiently outside the Brighton Creek mill. After 10 minutes, Bob arrived with ropes and maybe with weapons hidden to finish off his two prisoners.

As he passed them, the police officers hiding behind a large bush, tripped him and when he fell down, they quickly encroached upon him and handcuffed him, taking him by surprise. They searched his pockets and found the keys to the mill's door. They also found a small pistol in his waistband and a knife hidden in his pockets.

The sheriff and his team opened the door to the mills and raided the whole place. They untied Jasper and Francis Brighton and escorted them to the police truck that arrived for them.

Another team had raided the Wellington Creek mill and arrested John Walker and his men who were digging. The officers sealed both the mills.

The sheriff and his men dropped, Jasper and Daryll to their house and congratulated the children for their outstanding bravery.

They took Francis Brighton to the hospital for check-up and care. The culprits were taken into police custody and all the evidence collected were sent for testing.

The sheriff came over to their house to record their testimonies against Edward Wellington and his men. He would be facing trial at court.

Francis  Brighton was better and released from the hospital. The government gave permission to him to reopen the mills and he was given aid on behalf of the government for repairing and restarting his business.

It was the happiest moment of his life. They came over to grandpa's house to thank the children again and again. He called back his old employees back and the children were glad that their efforts were fruitful in the end.

They enjoyed a relaxing picnic in their backyard eating the delicious delicacies that their grandma and their aunts made.

Their time at grandma's house was almost over and the children didn't have any wish to return home. But school would start and their dad would arrive the next day to take Daryll and Diana home.

"Is this the first and the last adventure of the Rescue Hawkes?" Asked a disappointed Skylar.

"Of course not. We will meet every vacation and have an adventure together. What do you say guys?" Asked Jasper.

"You're absolutely right," said Daryll as they placed their right palms one above the other and swore to help those who needed it.

"You all can come over to our house in Richmond next time?" Said Daryll.

"We'd love to," said Nicholas already excited.

"I'll miss grandma's food," said Diana and Daryll too agreed.

Uncle Stanley joined them and chatted with them for sometime. It seemed that the papers that Jasper stuffed in his pocket that day at the mill when he was caught were the stolen map and plan.

Uncle Stanley returned them to the museum and the children were honoured with congratulatory certificates awarded to them on behalf of the state of Virginia.

The next day their dad came and heard everything that happened. He congratulated the children. After an emotional moment of goodbyes they left their grandparents house and were on their way home.

A new school, a new home awaited them with new adventures and new experiences.
