Chapter Ten
She might have dozed off to sleep, when a hand on her forehead woke her up. She opened her eyes and stared at a pair of mesmerising hazel eyes, inches from hers.
Jaden? What was he doing here? Did he come to take her away from here? Yes, he was her only hope. She clung to his neck.
"Oh Jaden, please take me away. Mr McAllister has brought me here while I was asleep," she mumbled, scared to talk loudly lest Mr McAllister heard her. Then her only chance of escaping with Jaden would be lost.
"It's ok, love. You're in my house. In Travis Springs. Mr McAllister doesn't know where you are. I've abducted you, so you're safe," said Jaden and Rosalie left him to stare at him.
"You abducted me?" She gasped.
"Yeah, I couldn't let you be his prisoner for life, could I?" He said, smiling.
She breathed a sigh of relief and smiled for the first time since she came here.
"Sleep now, I'll see you in the morning tomorrow. Ok?" He said, getting up to leave. She wanted him to stay. She wanted to apologise and tell him that she didn't mean a word she said that day. She wanted to tell him that she loved him. But it seemed that the cat got her tongue and she was at a loss for words.
She kept staring as he left, closing the door behind him. She felt guilty that he left his own bedroom for her and went to sleep elsewhere.
Soon she drifted off to sleep with only Jaden's face in her mind. He saved her from that dreadful fate that was in store for her. She had to thank him.
The next morning, she woke up to a bout of morning sickness. After emptying out only water into the toilet bowl, she came back to the room, dehydrated and sick. Drinking a sip of water, she went downstairs to get some ginger to suck to reduce her nausea.
She saw Jaden, stirring some soup. "Good morning," she said, going up to him to see what he was doing. He ladled some of the simple ginger carrot soup into two soup bowls and served her with banana oatmeal bread.
"Yum, this is delicious, " she said.
He grinned, "I'm glad you like it. I asked Betty to make them yesterday night. I just warmed the soup," he said, pleased that she liked it.
"So, how's my baby doing in there?" He asked with a grin.
"He's doing fine, thank you. Well, Betty thinks I have twins in there," she said and Jaden's face filled with concern.
"Then you should take bed rest," he said,
"I'm fine Jaden. I need to move around for a healthy pregnancy and later, a healthy delivery. Don't worry. If I feel tired I'll rest," she said.
"Yeah, eat everything that Betty gives you and rest," he suggested.
"But what about my job?" She asked him in dismay.
"If you feel better you can contact your office. If they let you work from home, it's fine. Else you can resign from there and join any farm nearby. Or you could plan your own organic farm. Whatever you want to do. Think over and tell me," he said. "I can't allow you to go back to Houston to join work. It's too risky with Mr McAllister searching for you everywhere."
"You're right. I'll contact my office and resign. Then when I'm feeling better, we could plan to start my own organic farm here in Travis Springs. I love the idea," she said excitedly.
"Wait for a few days then. Don't call your workplace. I'm sure they've gone there in search of you. Once it dies down a little you can give them a call," he said and she nodded.
"But where's my mobile?" She asked in dismay.
"I've switched it off so that no one can track you down here," he said.
"Allison and dad would be upset. I need to inform them at least," she said. She didn't care about anyone else. Only Allison and her dad loved her unconditionally. She should inform them. They would be sick with worry.
"Stuart knows, so he informed Allison. And your dad knows too," he said, looking at her minutely.
"Dad knows? How?" She asked in confusion.
"Your dad came here two days back. He spoke to my dad. They called me. I was here at my new house, giving finishing touches to the decorations. Your dad informed me that you were pregnant with my child. He asked me if I wanted you to abort it or whether I would take responsibility for the baby and you. I wanted to take responsibility. Your dad was happy with my answer.," said Jaden, proudly.
He paused for some time, to drink water. "Then he received a phone call from Mr McAllister that you would be shifted permanently to his mansion at 7 o'clock in the evening. So we devised this plan to abduct you before that and bring you here. Mr McAllister went to get you in the evening and went crazy to find you gone. He and Jennifer have hired people to track you down," he informed.
"Oh, so dad's with you on this abduction plan? I can't believe it," she said, smiling.
"It's true," he said.
"Where's he then?" She asked.
"He went back to Houston. He didn't want Jennifer to find out that he had a hand in your escape," said Jaden and everything became crystal clear to Rosalie.
"Hmm," she said, picking up her bowl and carrying it to the kitchen sink.
Betty came and took over. She greeted them and cleaned the table. They thanked her and went upstairs.
"I've joined dad's company as a CPA. So I have to leave for work now. You do whatever you want. There's a library, if you want to read. Else you can think of a name for your organic farm and do some research on it," he said.
"Yeah, I'll do all of those. You go ahead," she said. He showered and left for work while she missed him. She noticed that he did not even attempt to kiss her or touch her. Maybe her words really hurt him. She would have to apologise to him.
Betty helped her shower and she spent the whole day doing research on the type of organic products that she could specialize in. She loved the name "Rose's Organic World."
It was evening and Rosalie anxiously waited for Jaden to come home.
