Chapter Nine

The next day she was feeling much better. She ate some cereal with milk and fruits. Her dad didn't come and she was worried. Did her dad have a fight with Jaden and his dad? She still had two days of leave left at her office, so she decided to rest a bit to gain enough strength.

Around 8 o'clock in the morning, the sound of the doorbell roused her. She went to open the door. She froze seeing Mr McAllister standing there looking irritated and disgusted by his surroundings.

"Come inside," she said, opening the door wide.

He came inside, and inspected her apartment. It wasn't very clean. She had been unwell for so long. He wasn't pleased, it was clear from his facial expressions.

"How do you live in such a filthy apartment? Pack and be ready by 7 o'clock in the evening. I will come and take you to my mansion. You are shifting there permanently," he said with authority.

"Can I move in after the wedding, please?" She asked apprehensively.

"No, you will do as I say. Else I will come and pack your stuff and carry you home," he said, threateningly.

"Have you resigned from that farm where you work?" He asked with a scoff.

"No, I haven't," she said, feeling disgusted with him dictating her life in this manner.

"Why haven't you? You will resign today. Tomorrow you will be at my mansion and I won't allow you to go there to work. Is that clear?" He said, sternly with a poker face.

She gave a slight nod. Mr McAllister turned around and walked out of her apartment, slamming the door shut behind him.

She sat down on the sofa hopelessly. If she went to live with him, he would get to know that she was pregnant. He would then take her to a hospital to get her baby aborted. What should she do? Run away? She would be a prisoner in his mansion from tonight. She would be under his watch 24/7. She couldn't refuse to go as he would himself pack her stuff and carry her to his mansion.

She sat with her head in her hands for quite some time. Maybe she should call her dad and tell him. She called her dad thrice, but his number was unreachable. So she packed her stuff in suitcases, the way she brought them. The remaining things which she couldn't pack, she left. Maybe Mr McAllister would have someone get them for her.

Tired, she sat down to catch her breath. She tried calling her dad again and again but she couldn't connect to him. She warmed and ate yesterday's left-over dinner and sat down to think how she could escape Mr McAllister.

Exhausted from all the packing, she fell asleep on the sofa. She felt herself being carried somewhere in her dreams. But she didn't stir. She wasn't well and the packing had really exhausted her.

It was already late afternoon, when she opened her eyes. Feeling much better, she tried to get up but felt dizzy and again lay down. Opening her eyes wide, she looked for her water on the coffee table, where she had kept it.

Wait! Where was the coffee table? Where was her living room sofa where she was sleeping? She looked around in dismay. This wasn't her bedroom? This wasn't her apartment.

It looked lavishly decorated. Wait! It looked like someone's mansion. She stared with horror all around her. The bedroom belonged to a man, with its white and beige decor.

Did Mr McAllister bring her when she fell asleep? She panicked at the thought. She tried to get up but the door opened and a middle aged woman rushed inside.

"You'll fall, don't get up in such haste," she chided Rosalie, helping her to get up slowly.

"Who are you? Where am I?" She asked, scared of the answers.

"Oh, I'm Betty, I work here as a housekeeper. I'll be looking after you," she said.

She went to her closet and got her clothes and towels and led her to the en-suite.

"You need a shower, Miss," she said, folding her clothes and placing them in the en-suite along with her towels.

"I can manage. Thanks. Please call me Rosalie," she said and Betty smiled.

"Your head will swoon and you will fall Rosalie. Sir has given me direct instructions not to leave you alone. Please let me do my job," she said, getting rid of her clothes.

"Who's your sir?" She asked and Betty smiled. "He'll come and tell you himself."

She cleaned Rosalie gently with a scented body wash. Everything looked expensive and new. She wanted to escape. She couldn't live here in Mr McAllister's prison.

After giving her a bath, she helped Rosalie dry herself and wear her clothes. The clothes too were brand new. The rose bud coloured pale pink lingerie matched the pale pink dress.

They came out of the en-suite and Betty dried and set her hair. She felt so clean and much fresher.

"You lie down and I'll get you something to eat," she said, turning to leave.

"I can go to the table and eat, " she said but Betty didn't listen.

"Do you want me to lose my job Rosalie? Sir has asked me not to let you get up from bed," she said in earnest.

Rosalie was already feeling pissed off at her sir, whoever he was. She wanted to wander and explore the mansion. Maybe she could find out more about its owner or the place where she was.

She searched for her mobile, but couldn't find it. So she sat and waited for her food, wondering what the time was.

Betty came in smiling with a tray of food for her. "Where is your sir?" She asked, not able to help herself.

"He has gone out to take care of some important work. He should be here in an hour, as my duty gets over then," she told Rosalie.

"Here,  eat this. You have to finish it. You're too skinny," Betty said, looking her up and down.

Rosalie was ravenous. She finished the food in no time. Betty grinned at her. "I think you're carrying twins, " she said and Rosalie stared at her in shock.

"How did you know?" She asked. How would she manage twins?

"I have twins, myself dear. I know the symptoms, " she said, smiling as she cleared her dinner.

Rosalie discreetly checked Betty's wristwatch. It was just 8 o'clock in the night? But she had been here for more than an hour. So did Mr McAllister bring her to his mansion before 7 o'clock?

It seemed that way. She had to think of a way to escape. But with her body so weak, she couldn't run far. What would she do? She didn't want to live like a prisoner all her life.
