Chapter Fifteen

The next day while at office Jayson received a call from his dad inviting both of them to dinner. He sat down shocked at hearing his father's voice. When he came to his senses, he went to Karen's room and sat down opposite her.

"What's wrong?" She asked, seeing his shocked expression.

"Dad called. He invited us to dinner tonight," he said and Karen smiled.

"That's good. Now cheer up. Didn't you want to be able to go home again?" She asked.

"Yeah, it's just that I can't believe it is really happening. I never thought I could patch up with dad. I thought he hated me," he said, looking down at his hands. He looked so vulnerable that Karen just wanted to give him a hug. Instead she just held his hands to comfort him.

"Now you know that he doesn't hate you. He actually loves you too much. When you become a parent yourself, you'll know the feeling," she explained and his eyes lit up.

"When?" He asked, staring at her with joy.

"What when?" She asked in confusion.

"When will I become a parent?" He asked, with a wink. All stress and tension evaporated into thin air as his head again filled with fantastic images of their lovemaking.

Karen rolled her eyes. "Not before the wedding mister. Now go and work," she said, leaving his hand.

"Who wants to work with you around?" He said and her eyes shot up.

"A workaholic doesn't want to work? I'm a bad influence on you then?" She asked pouting.

"No, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me," he said and she grinned.

"Even you're the best thing that's ever happened to me," she mumbled.

"I didn't get you. Can you repeat that please?" He asked seriously.

"I said you're the best thing for me too, " she repeated and he grinned.

"I still can't hear it," he said as she smacked his arm. He got up and went to his desk to get some work done before heading home to get ready for dinner.

At 7 o'clock in the evening, both of them were ready to go out to their dad's house for dinner. Driving his Mercedes, he reached the huge mansion where his family lived. He got down and opened the car door for Karen and led her up the paved path up to the front door. The moment they pressed the doorbell, the doors flew open and a grinning Juliette stood there, her arms wide open for a hug. Jayson went forward but she hugged Karen first and Jayson glared at his sister.

Laughing at his reaction, she tweaked his nose and then hugged him tightly.

"Will you move aside Jules and let them inside?" Said a male voice from behind Juliette. She moved aside and Jayson led Karen inside the huge palace-like house, luxuriously decorated with every corner looking like it's straight from the pages of a home decor magazine.

The other voice belonged to a young man, maybe around twenty, a year younger than Juliette. He had soft chocolate brown hair and twinkling olive green eyes which shone as he came forward and embraced Jayson tightly. "Missed you, dude.  You've grown up," said Jayson.

"Missed you more bro. I'm so glad you're home, " he said, his voice choked with emotions.

Jayson regained his composure and then drew Karen forward and introduced her, "Meet my fiancée, Karen Richardson. Karen, this is my younger brother, Jaden.  He's twenty, and studying finance in Austin.

"Hi, so nice to meet you, Jaden. I've already met Juliette before," she said, smiling.

Suddenly the door opened and an exquisitely beautiful, very young girl, around eighteen years old, came into the room. Her serene smile held a lot of pain. She was the quietest of the lot and she came and hugged Jayson as a tear escaped her eye.

"It's ok, Jade. I'm here. I've missed you so much, sweetie," said Jayson to his youngest sister, who was thirteen years younger than him.

She then shyly peeked at Karen and smiled. Jayson introduced,"Karen, meet my youngest sister, Jade," he said. "Jade, meet Karen, my fiancée. We're getting married this Monday at Sacred Heart chapel at 11 o'clock in the morning." He said and Jade smiled excitedly.

"Can I be your bridesmaid please?" She asked.

"Yeah, me too," said Juliette.

"Ok, but can you get your dresses at such short notice?" Asked Karen.

"Oh, don't worry about that. We'll go to Austin tomorrow and buy." Said Juliette.

"I'll need two more dresses similar to yours, for my friend Scarlett who'll be matron of honour and Valentina who'll be another bridesmaid. They both have small children and couldn't go shopping. I'll give you their measurements," said Karen and Juliette agreed excitedly.

"Is Chase your best man, bro?" Asked Jaden.

"No one's my best man so far. You can be if you want to. Chase will be my groomsman." Said Jayson and Jaden smiled happily.

"I'm coming with you to get a tuxedo, Jules, " he said.

"You can have a talk with Chase, what colour tuxedo he's wearing." Said Jayson.

Their father came into the room and hugged both Jayson and Karen. "Welcome home, children, " he said. "Come, let's enjoy dinner, first," he said, leading Karen to the huge lavishly decorated dining room.

They made wedding plans and reception party plans. They drew up a guest list. Jayson's dad called Karen's parents and spoke to them, personally inviting them. They all agreed to attend the wedding. They would coordinate with Juliette for the wedding dresses.

Mr Meyers, engaged a wedding planner to take care of the party, cake and the church decor. They would also help Karen get ready on her wedding day. The invitations were made online and dispatched through email or mobile phone chat apps.

"Come and check the wedding preparations anytime you want, ok?" Said his dad and they both nodded.

After a thorough planning session, a very happy Jayson and Karen left to go home, both feeling happy and excited for their wedding.

The moment Karen saw his happy face, she felt a tug on her heartstrings. She loved his smile so much. She wanted to see him like this every day, forever. Did she fall in love with him? Yes, she did. When the like turned to a deep feeling of love she didn't know. She just knew that she loved him and she would always stay with him, bear his children and give him everything that he deserved.
