Lost In A Daydream

20 Years Later 

“Mom, dad, aren’t you guys ready yet?” Asked a surprised Asher as he burst into the house, his copper eyes glinting under the afternoon sunlight which lit up the living room. At twenty he was an exact replica of Colton as he was in his younger days. Although his looks were unique to him, his reckless ways, his possessive nature, his anger, his manner of talking, all were just like Colton’s. 

“We’re ready. Chill, son,” grinned Colton pulling their luggage along. Victoria too followed him out of the bedroom, ready to go. Asher grinned seeing his parents, his dimples prominent making him look devilishly handsome. At twenty, he was pursuing a BS in Business Administration from the prestigious University Of Berkeley. He was brilliant at handling the business empire that his dad and uncle Davion had built and spread over the years. Having come home to celebrate his parent’s twentieth wedding anniversary, he surprised them by gifting them tickets to Greece for a week long honeymoon trip. 

“Enjoy yourselves and don’t worry about Vera and Ashley, I’ll take care of them. Not that they needed any taking care of. They’re fit to be my granny,” laughed Asher, fondly thinking of his younger sisters whom he loved so much. 

“I know you’ll look after everything Asher but don’t overdo it with those two. They’ll torture you till you give in,” warned his mom. As if hearing their names the twins raced into the room like a gush of tornado. At sixteen, they were really a handful and just as Asher had mentioned, they were capable of fooling him and having their way. But still he loved them. 

“Mom, dad, did you take the list we gave you?” asked Ashley excitedly. 

Colton laughed. “You gave us three lists, each of yours as well as Scarlett’s. Remember?” he reminded his daughters. Scarlett Windsor was Vera’s best friend and almost joined at the hip with her. Being the daughter of a multi-billionaire, Thomas Windsor, she was a spoilt brat, yet they all loved her. Asher glared at his sisters. How could they be so demanding? Handing their own shopping lists as well as that brat of a girl, Scarlett’s list? He scoffed hearing it! Vera stuck out her tongue at her big brother seeing his reaction. 

“Behave while we’re gone. No partying, no drinking, am I clear?” ordered their dad in the sternest voice possible. 

“Of course,  dad. We’ll only study,” promised Ashley making Asher roll his eyes at them.

Finally Victoria and Colton climbed into the car and their chauffeur, Seth drove them to the airport. “This is our tenth honeymoon, Colton. Are you excited? “ asked Victoria. Colton gave her a tender smile.

“I’m always excited when I’m with you,” he whispered into her ear. They had come a long way together through numerous ups and downs yet the magic between them hadn’t waned. They had everything they wanted and couldn’t ask for more. After their marriage, they had dedicated their time between each other, Asher, studies as well as work. While Colton continued to spread their business empire and grow with Davion, Victoria fulfilled her dream of becoming a lawyer. She handled her dad’s law firm single handedly, having shifted its base to California. Her parents had retired and occasionally came over to their house to see the girls or to Sofia’s house. 

Victoria’s relationship with Sofia remained the same. Celestine grew more and more beautiful as she grew up and now at twenty-one, she was studying Cosmetology in Las Vegas. Sofia had given birth to a baby boy a year before Vera and Ashley were born . They named him Cameron. Inheriting, Davion’s good looks, he was too bright for his age and looked up to everything his big brother Asher did. They shared the same inseparable bond that Davion and Colton shared. 

Colton and Victoria were grateful to Asher for choosing their dream destination. For the past three years they had been considering it but it was Asher who finally made it happen. They checked into the beautiful luxury resort. “I need a couple spa. Are you coming along?” asked Victoria. So they started their honeymoon with a spa to rejuvenate them first. They had a week to themselves to enjoy themselves without stressing about work, children and other miscellaneous stuff. 

Back at home, Asher was playing billiards with his childhood friend, Keith when Maggie came into the games room. “Asher, I just received a call from Vera. She’s asking me to send Seth to pick them up from some club,” informed Maggie, her face pale with horror. Asher turned to her looking equally horrified. Club? But hadn’t they gone to a friend’s birthday party at her house?

“Haven’t they gone to a birthday party at someone’s house?” asked a horrified Asher. How could he be so dumb to give then permission? They had fooled him and gone to a club.

“Keith I need to go and get my sisters,” said Asher angrily. 

“I’m coming with you. Which club is it, Maggie?” asked Keith. 

“Silver Point,” said Maggie. Asher clenched his hands into fists. How could they go to such a notorious club at sixteen? 

“Let’s go,” he gritted and picking up his car keys, strode out of the house. He drove to Silver Point in five minutes with Keith following him in his car. They parked the car outside and just as Asher was about to call Vera, they appeared at the main door of the club, inebriated and staggering. It was obvious that they were drunk. The club was a membership based one so who could have a membership here which allowed them inside? Furious, he strode towards his sisters.

“Vera, Ashley, what are you doing here?” he growled at them angrily, 

“Sh*t, bro,” mumbled Ashley, looking scared. It was then that Asher saw Scarlett following them out of the club. So the spoiled brat was the root cause of the problem. It was she who had used her dad’s membership to get them in. Anger filled his whole body and he glared at her hot body clad in a micro-mini red tube dress that nothing left to the imagination! His whole body tingled with arousal seeing her looking so ravishing and se*y. But he chided himself trying to control his animalistic urges. ‘No Asher, she’s too young for you! She’s your sister’s best friend! She’s forbidden! She’s bad for you!’ he chided himself. 

“Get in the car all of you,” he growled furiously, feeling more angry at himself for harboring such thoughts for the brat, Scarlett. 

“I’ll go with Keith, please,” said Ashley, running towards Keith’s car. Anything was better than facing an angry Asher. 

“Same here,” said Vera, running away too. Asher opened his mouth to yell at them when Keith gestured to him to calm down. 

He turned towards Scarlett who stood transfixed to the spot, her milky white skin glowing under the street lights, her long golden blonde hair billowing in the breeze, her never ending legs inviting him for a touch. He blinked hard and glared harder at her.

“Won’t you run away as well?” he taunted her but her emerald green eyes connected to his. He was lost in those molten pools of heat for a split second before coming to his senses. Was she trying to seduce him? 

“You don’t scare me, Asher,” she said, her sultry lips spelling his name in a seductive whisper which immediately hardened him. 

“Get into the car. I don’t have time to waste,” he ordered and walked towards his Ferrari. Scarlett followed him and strapped herself in the passenger seat, her fingers feeling the new upholstery. She knew that it was the brand new car that he had bought today. She knew that she was the first one to ride it yet! She knew everything about him. 

“Do you like it?” Asher couldn’t help but ask her.

“Yes,” she whispered. 

They drove in silence, acutely aware if each other’s presence in the close confines of the car. There was an animal flitting across the road near a park and Asher hit the brakes. Hos hand shot out to hold Scarlett back in case her head hit the dashboard. “Are you okay?” he asked her. Her house was just a few steps ahead and he made no effort to restart the car. His fingers went up to tuck her hair behind her ear. Her hair was so soft and silky, her face so soft, almost like a baby’s. Scarlett closed her eyes and a tremor ran down her spine at his touch. Would he kiss her? She wanted him to! He was so handsome and she had been in love with him forever. 

Asher jersey his hand away as if scorched. “I wanted to talk to you,” said Asher, his expression not giving away anything. Scarlett’s heart skipped a beat or two. Would he tell her how much he loved her?

“Yes?” she asked waiting with baited breath. 

“Stay away from my sisters. They are innocent and I don’t want them to be slu*s like you. Stop forcing them to places like Silver Point. Next time I see them with you, I won’t be so nice, Scarlett,” he gritted out, closing his eyes to control himself. How could he give in to her? How could he be so weak? Scarlett’s face paled and tears pooled into her eyes. She clamped her mouth and opened the car door and ran out, sobbing. Her heart broke gearing Asher’s hurtful words. 

Asher opened his eyes and yelled after her. “Scarlett, wait,” but she disappeared into the night.
