Chapter Thirty-Nine

The next few days were the most beautiful ones in Renée's life. The eagerness, the flutter in her stomach, the pampering for her upcoming wedding, all made her feel special, like a princess. They went to Great Falls and enjoyed a day of shopping and connecting with one another. Rihanna, Adelaide and Raine bought lots of dresses while aunt Kathy made Renée shop for her wedding needs, matching lingerie, hair accessories, night dresses, satin bedspreads and lots of towels, toiletries, make up and so on and so forth. By the end of it, they were tired. Auth Ruth wanted to go for a nice foot soak followed by a manicure and a pedicure, so they walked into a salon. While Renée received a full body massage, a facial, a hair treatment amongst other treatments, the others settled for a foot and hand care treatment only.

No one was in a hurry to get back except Adelaide and Renée, both of who, received nearly twenty phone calls and a hundred messages from their respective life partners who simply couldn't live without them. "Let them cook at least one day," said granny, stretching as they finished up with her.

"I hope we get something to eat when we get home," said Renée's mom.

"I'm sure Rhett will cook much better than any of them together," said aunt Charlotte.

"Joe can cook too but he's become lazy these days with so many of you around. When the boys were small, he used to cook nearly everyday," said granny with a chuckle.

They returned home and as Renée went to her room to keep her stuff, Sawyer came in and pulled her into his arms, inhaling her deeply.

"You smell so delicious. What took you so long? I thought you eloped with someone else, " he said, looking at her with a small grin on his face. Renée rolled her eyes.

"I went with granny, mom and the others. How could you think of such things?" She asked, giving him a look.

"Just kidding, I missed you, love," he said, pulling her close.

Afterwards they went over to Happy Dreamz Ranch and made love to one another. It seemed that they couldn't live without one another. "I can't wait to sleep with you again," he told her.

With only ten days left, they were more impatient for one another. Everyday, Renée started furnishing her home with stuff that she would go to the marketplace with Raine and Rihanna to buy. They helped her furnish and so did aunt Kathy and her mom. Her training at the Fordsville Treatment Center had started and she loved the experience,  the hands-on training. It gave her a lot of insight as to how to deal with patients in a real life scenario.

After five days, they planned a bridal shower party for her at home. It was a simple family get together. Sawyer's family had arrived from Mexico and were introduced to the rest of the Wilson family. Granny and grandad invited them to stay over at Wildcreek Ranch. The children bonded well with Renée and Rihanna but they were inseparable from Sawyer. It was clear that they loved him a lot and so did Sawyer. He spent time with them, showing them the wildlife near Bearhead Creek. Sawyer's mom kissed her cheek and apologized for not knowing about her and keeping her son away from her for so long.

"Please don't say sorry, mom. Everything's settled now. I'm glad that he found you. He looks so at peace with himself after connecting to you," said Renée.

"You're a very sweet girl, Renée. I'm glad that he chose you. I was apprehensive about meeting you but now after talking to you, I can see why my boy is head over heels in love with you," she told her. Renée blushed at her statement. Lara gave a beautiful diamond pendant and matching bracelets to her as a wedding gift. Renée thanked her profusely. Even Antonio connected with her when Sawyer and Renée took him to their new home to show him around.

"We'll come down here to spend some time with the two of you. Son, why don't you bring your wife over to Mexico for a vacation?" Asked Antonio.

"Yes, Antonio. I will surely do that," he promised.

The next day, Ryder came home with Anastasia and Renée bonded with her old friend after a long time.

"I told you that I'd come back for your wedding. I did, " said Anastasia.

"What about you and Ryde, Ana? He'll die waiting for you like this, " said Renée.

Anastasia looked down at her hands. "I've something to prove first. Once I achieve what I set out to achieve, I'll come back forever, " she told her.

"When will that be? Don't take too long. You remember Hailey? Ryder's best friend's sister?" Asked Renée.

"Yeah, " said Anastasia and her face fell a little.

"She's interested in Ryder, " she told Anastasia and her face paled considerably.

"I know, " she told Renée.

"Don't force Ryder to give up hopes of you and marry Hailey in return," she told her.

With so many people, Wildcreek Ranch was again gearing up for another wedding. The decorators were working away relentlessly and aunt Kathy was the busiest woman at home.

Sawyer was given a good time at a pub in the marketplace two nights before the wedding. The next day, he took Renée to Helena to buy their wedding rings. The whole day they enjoyed at Helena. It was like another date for them. He bought her a pair of earrings as a wedding gift while Renée gave him a personalized wallet with a small message engraved inside.

Walk with me through life and I'll never need anything else!

He was touched by the gift. "When did you buy it?" He asked, looking at the amazing abd thoughtful gift.

"I had it engraved at a gift shop in Great Falls, " said Renée.

As they sat at night after dinner on the porch at the back, they couldn't believe that the next day was their wedding day. The most important day in their lives, a day that they had been eagerly waiting for a long long time. Renée cuddled up to him.

"Can you believe it, Sawyer? We're really getting married tomorrow. It still feels like a dream to me," she told him.

"Oh, is it? It doesn't feel like a dream to me. I just can't wait to carry you home and then sleep with you every night thereafter," he said with a grin. The moonlight lit us his face and Renée could see the excited gleam in his eyes. Hers shone with happiness too. Finally, she would get her happily ever after and she couldn't want anything more from life.

The next morning, Renée woke up and inhaled the fresh morning air. It was her wedding day and she felt apprehensive as well as excited. The whole morning she was a bundle of nerves as everyone fussed over her. Her hair, her makeup, her wedding dress, her veil, everything was intact, yet she was fidgety and restless.

"Oh, I forgot to wear the earrings Sawyer gifted me yesterday!" She gasped nervously.

"Relax sweetie, you're looking beautiful," said aunt Kathy to calm her down.

"Yes, honey. Everything's perfect," said her mom.

"Yes, practice deep breathing, it works wonders," advised Adelaide. Renée did just that.

"Where's dad disappeared to?" Said Renée with frustration.

"He's waiting for you outside the room, dear. C'mon let's go," said aunt Ruth.

Renée walked out and found her dad. "Oh, you're here. I was looking for you," said Renée.

"I'll always be there for you sweetie. How can I not? You know that you're more precious to me than anything in the world. It's your special day and therefore it's a special day for me too. Calm down and let's take you to your Sawyer. He's pacing the lawns waiting for you. I think he'll come here any minute to get you," said her dad with a grimace.

Renée laughed. "Yeah, that he might," she said and they all walked towards the wedding venue. Renée loved the decorations, everyone in pure while, white carnations, while roses, white hydrangeas, white tulips wrapped around a beautiful wedding arch with white tulle fabrics floating in the wind. White seats, white rose petals strewn across the aisle was a sharp contrast against the green rolling hills. Yet Renée's heart beat rapidly in her chest. She shouldn't trip, everything should be perfect. Was her hair blown away? As she approached the altar, she saw Sawyer, looking blissfully happy as he laughed with his little siblings and his brothers. He looked so content,  happy and so handsome in a navy blue tuxedo with a white rosebud and fern boutonniere. His best man, Ryder, was with him while Alvaro was his ring bearer. He looked at her and time stood still for them. His eyes seemed to calm her, comfort her that everything would be perfect. He was there for her, for life!

Renée calmed down finally. Rihanna, her maid of honor, handed her the bridal bouquet. The procession started and she took a deep breath and followed her bridesmaids, clutching onto her dad's arm tightly.
