A Hopeless Pursuit (Forbidden Love Series Book 10)

 

The reception party was over but his sister Serenity had left early with Laurence as she was feeling unwell. After she left Liam sipped a drink with Tyler, he wasn't at all happy. A sixth sense was indicating that this would be a disastrous wedding. He would go and see her sometimes. Maybe he would meet Lisa too during those times. He wondered why she didn't live at her own house.

The next day, Liam went to her music school again to see if she had rejoined. The classes were going on and Liam sat waiting in his Ferrari, outside the music school. Excitement coursed through him at the thought of seeing Lisa again. Maybe she had forgotten him.

After a long, exhausting forty minute wait, he saw that the students were coming out of the building. Maybe a batch had just gotten over. He expectantly looked for Lisa but couldn't find her. Maybe she hadn't come in after all. After another ten minutes wait, he saw a young girl wearing a blue dress walk out of the school with a guitar strapped to her slender frame. Her long golden cascading hair made every passerby stop and look at her. She was gorgeous. She was Lisa. Liam climbed down from his Ferrari and walked towards her with a new found energy.

Lisa was pissed off by her music teacher. He wanted her to attend extra classes to cope up with all the classes that she had missed. That meant the whole weekend she would have to come here for her classes and forget the trip to Michigan with Sofia, Victoria, Leo and their parents to attend a wedding. She would have to return home then since they would lock up their house and go for a week. 

Deep in her thoughts, she didn't notice Liam right in front of her and collided with his hard torso. "We collide again," he said in his husky tone. Lisa looked up into the blue orbs of none other than a hot Liam Parker.

"Are you stalking me?" She asked him.

"Have you turned dumb? Obviously I'm stalking you," he smirked. Lisa hadn't expected that answer. Her mouth hung open.

"Why are you stalking me?" She asked impatiently, regaining her balance and placing some distance between themselves.

"Because I want to," he said with a wider smirk.

A horn blared nearby and Lisa turned to see a furious Leo waiting impatiently on his motorcycle. "I've got to go, " she asked but Liam caught her wrist in a firm grip.

"You're going with him?" Liam seethed with wild fury. He hated the youngster, his lustful eyes as he took in Lisa made Liam want to punch him left and right. How could Lisa tolerate such a jerk?

"Yes, he's Leo. My friend, Sofia's cousin," she informed Liam, trying to extricate her hand. Leo got down from his motorcycle and strode angrily towards them.

"Let go of her, you jerk," he yelled at Liam.

Liam calmly looked at the angry teenager. "You mind you're own business, " he said. Leo fisted his hands ready to punch Liam. 

"Lisa is my business. She's mine. She's my girlfriend. Let.her.go," Leo gritted out furiously. He swung his arm,  aiming a punch at Liam's jaw but Liam's reflexes were too strong. He blocked Leo's punch with a single hand and caught his hand in a vice-like grip, twisting it behind him.

"Don't you dare. I'm a kickboxing black belt. I'll beat you to a pulp and you wouldn't be able to locate your organs anymore, " Liam warned quietly. Lisa watched with awe. She loved the way Liam fought. Was she crushing on him already?

"Stay away from my girl and I'd leave you alone, " said Leo, obviously in pain.

"What the fuck! I'm not your anything Leo. I'm just a friend to you," Lisa said with frustration. She didn't like the way Leo kept harping upon the same thing. When did she become his girlfriend? She didn't even see him in that light! Leo glared at her.

"Then go home on your own," he said angrily, riding his motorcycle and speeding off. Lisa sighed and took out her mobile phone to call Tim Fletcher who was Laurence's trusted driver. Lisa too trusted him more than the others.

"I can drop you," offered Liam, looking at her with curiosity. Lisa kept her phone back and nodded at Liam.

"Okay, " she said shyly. Liam led her to his Ferrari. He felt a strange sense of satisfaction seeing her look at his car appreciatively.  After helping her to her seat, Liam  climbed into the driver's side and started the ignition. He started driving but to Lisa's surprise, he didn't even ask her for her address.

"Aren't you dropping me to Sofia's house? I'll tell you the address, " she said but he smiled and drove on. He drove her to a cute pizza joint tucked in a cozy corner of a street. "Are we eating pizza?" She squealed with delight. Liam smiled, just as he had thought! She did love pizza, too much in fact.

"Yes, do you like pizza?" He asked softly,  parking his car. 

"Like? I loveeee itt," she squealed.

Liam grinned at her excitement. "What else do you love?" He asked with interest, locking his car up and leading her inside the pizza joint.

"Oh, I love, everything to do with lavenders. The color, the aroma, the flower, the oil, everything," she said holding out her wrist for him to smell.

"Smell it, it's my favorite lavender perfume, " she said, her eyes shining with a fresh energy. She didn't know why she talked so much with Liam but there was something about his quiet magnetic persona that compelled her to open up to him. Liam gently held her hand in his own but instead  of smelling, he pressed a soft kiss onto her wrist. Lisa blushed and pulled her hand away.

"I'm glad that you told me," he said softly. Lisa suddenly felt shy of his presence.

"You still didn't tell me why you stalked me," she complained. She had to say something to take his attention away from the goosebumps on her bare arms.

"I wanted to see you," he said with a smile as he led her to a table and sat down to order.

Lisa stared at the menu not  being able to choose. They all were her favorites. "It isn't fair. What if someone wants a taste of all that's on the menu?" She complained.

Liam laughed and Lisa looked up to see his relaxed happy face. He looked more handsome when he laughed.  She too smiled seeing his infectious mood. "You look beautiful when you smile, Lisa, " Liam said softly. The knowledge that he was able to bring a smile on her lips made him contented and happy.

Lisa smiled further. "Thanks, so do you, " she said and then clamped onto her silly mouth with embarrassment.

"I do look beautiful,  don't I?" Laughed Liam, looking at her red cheeks.

"I didn't mean that," she said awkwardly.

Liam smiled and looked at the menu card. "So what do you want to order?" He asked her.

"I can't choose. You choose something. All are good actually," she said with a puzzled look, scanning all the options.

"I'll choose one for me and another for you. We'll share. Okay?" He suggested and Lisa nodded. Liam placed their orders.

"When do you have your next class? We could come here and check out more pizzas," he offered, crossing his fingers below the table, praying that she would agree. Lisa's face brightened with excitement.

"Really? Thank you, thank you, thank you," she said, with  a grin in her face. Liam smiled at her enthusiasm. His eyes never left hers and she suddenly became aware of the intensity of his gaze upon her.

"My next class is on Thursday. Then next weekend, I have back to back classes since I missed out so much. I'll have to go home since Sofia and her family are going to Michigan for a wedding," Lisa rambled on acutely aware of his gaze upon her.

"Then can I see you again on Thursday?" Asked Liam not looking away.

"Yes," she said shyly. Their food arrived and thankfully Liam looked away from her and at his food. They shared the pizzas and enjoyed their meal.

"You have cheese on your mouth," said Lisa with a laugh.

"Where? Here?" He asked dabbing with a paper napkin.

"No, here let me," said Lisa. She stretched her hand and wiped the cheese off his soft, warm lips. He stared at her, hypnotized by her touch. Lisa blushed at the realization of what she had just done. Liam caught her hand and licked the cheese off her fingers. 

"What are you doing Liam? People are watching, " she said looking around.

"Let them," he said, still watching her creamy skin, now red like a tomato. He wondered how much she would blush when he kissed her. He released her and they finished their food acutely aware of one another.
