Chapter One
Denver woke up, refreshed and hungry. He dashed down to the kitchen to hunt for food. "Ma I'm hungry, " he said, looking into every pot and pan.
"I'm giving you. Don't touch anything with your dirty hands. Did you take a shower?" Asked his ma.
"Nah, first food then shower," he said, watching his ma serve him some chicken stew and bread rolls. She handed the plate to him.
"Hey Den," said Drake excitedly as he sat beside him at the dining table. "What are you gonna do now?" He asked curiously.
"Eat what else do you do with food?" He asked in a duh tone.
"I meant after eating, silly," asked Drake.
"I dunno," said Denver, munching and enjoying his food. Daxton came back and slumped into the seat next to him, eyeing his food.
"What's up with you? Shut it dude. Going to the library after her won't help. Change your tactics, " said Denver. Daxton too started to help himself to Denver's food. They were twins after all and couldn't stay away from one another. They went to the same university and hung out with more or less the same group of friends although they pursued different courses.
"Yeah, bro. You're right. If only I could do something about her brothers. They seem to have no work other than escorting her here and there," said Daxton.
"I know. It's so frustrating. Why can't they get a life of their own?" Asked Denver.
"They've marked my motorcycle. The moment I pass them, they would like, glare and just glare at me," said Daxton, mimicking their glare.
Drake grinned. "Why don't you take your car out for a change. They haven't marked that yet, " he suggested.
"Right Drake boy," said Daxton, patting his head.
"But first you guys need to clean your cars. God! They're filthy like some second-hand, trashy car straight out of a rickety garage!" said Drake, his eyes flashing with excitement. He'd been hunting for an excuse to send Denver outside the house, to the front yard for a while. How else would he meet Sapphire? Now was the chance.
"I know, I'll clean it now that I'm free," said Daxton, getting up and rolling up his sleeves. Denver kept sitting like a lazy bum.
"Raise your lazy a* bro. Your car's dirty too. Dad would take it away and give it to me, " Drake grinned at Denver.
Denver got up with a chuckle. "High hopes kid. Grow up first to get a car !" He said, going to the kitchen to rinse his plate. Drake watched whether he would join Daxton or not.
When he emerged, Daxton pulled him outside. "I'm not cleaning alone. Come on, Den, " he said and they both went outside. Drake first bumped with a grinning Timmy and they peered out of the to watch the fun.
"Are you helping me clean mine or what?" Asked Daxton.
"Nope. You clean yours and I'll clean mine, " said Denver.
They took their cars out onto the huge driveway and went up get their cleaning supplies. Then they started cleaning. The worst job ever!
"Do you know a cop with the Houston Police Department, Brad Williams has shifted into that house opposite to us?" Said Daxton.
"I heard something like that this morning. Man, they were making a lot of noise moving their stuff. He should be arrested for noise pollution, being a cop and all yet disrupting the peace of a residential neighborhood," said Daxton, glaring at their balcony.
"I know, I hate cops. One of Aurora's brother's is a cop," said Daxton rolling his eyes.
"God, you're so unlucky just like me," said Denver.
They cleaned and cleaned and grumbled when suddenly Denver glance fell upon officer Brad Williams' balcony. To his utter shock, he saw a hot girl standing there instead of a scary cop. His eyes popped out and he stared at her, unable to look away. Her long brownish blonde hair cascaded down her back and her beautiful body clad in a black tank top and hot pants made him excited. Uff what a bombshell! Who was she? Was she the cops sister or daughter? She didn't look more than sixteen.
His heart beats accelerated when he realized that she was looking at him. She looked away seeing him stare at her more. Denver couldn't concentrate upon his work anymore. He kept glancing at her and everytime found her looking at him. He smiled and waved at her but she went inside the house to his disappointment. He was in a trance. He couldn't move away wanting to catch another glimpse of her.
"What the f*ck!" Swore Daxton. Denver was brought out of his trance and he looked at his twin.
"What happened?" He asked. He laughed seeing that the water hose had sprayed him with water, drenching him from head to toe.
"It slipped out of my hands. I was calling out to you. Where were you so lost?" Asked a displeased Daxton.
"Oops sorry. I was lost. You look like a drenched Timmy," laughed Denver.
"Just you wait, I'll too make you look like one," said Daxton, drenching him. They ran around their cars, drenching one another. It was quite a scene with two naughty, dirty, drenched, over-grown, muscular, hot, teenage boys having a blast! A sweet giggle made them stop dead in their tracks and look up at the balcony opposite. Denver's mouth hung open seeing her again.
"Dude close your mouth, " nudged Daxton with a chuckle.
"She's mine," said Denver, clutching at his heart.
"Sure. I have Aurora, remember?" Said Daxton. "It seems that you have competition dude," said Daxton in a sing-sing tone, gesturing towards the a house down the road where Cullum West lived. He was of the same age as them and their sworn enemy.
Denver looked to see Callum standing near his gate, peeping at Sapphire with his jaws dropped onto the pavement. "Grr, I'll punch someone, now," said Denver.
"Don't do anything yet, dude. She's just moved in. Let Callum make a move, then we'll settle our equation with him," said Daxton, cleaning his car and parking it where it was while Denver watched Sapphire with a hand on his heart. She blushed and rushed inside.
"I'm gonna take a shower now. We have an extra class today. Why don't you too get ready dude?" said Daxton, walking towards the house to get ready for college. Their morning classes of economics and business math were dissolved as two professors had taken leave.
"You go, I'll come in a minute," said Denver. Daxton went away but Denver couldn't move. The wish to see that beautiful angelic girl who was looking at him all the time that she stood at her balcony made him keep cleaning all the cars that were there in the garage. She came out again and looked at him. Denver felt his heart beating fast like it would jump out of his chest. A happiness spread all over him. He could see that she was gorgeous although a little young.
A cop came out of the front door of their house and glared at him. He looked old enough to be her dad. He was dead. Of all the girls in the world, he had to like a cop's daughter?
"Sapphire, go inside," yelled the cop.
Denver scrubbed the car he was cleaning harder and harder while the cop started his police car. So his daughter's name was Sapphire! Wow what an awesome name for a gorgeous girl! He was already feeling his heart beating faster just at the thought of her.
After her dad left, Sapphire again came to stand at the balcony. She watched him with interest cleaning the driveway, then mowing the lawn and watering the plants. His ma came out of the house and watched him with her hands on her waist. Her eyes widened when she saw all the work that he had done since morning.
"Denver, are you sick? What are you upto? Don't you have college?" She asked with concern. What was wrong with the lazy bum? He always somehow washed his car once in ten days.
"I'll not attend college today ma," he said and his ma glared at him.
"Why?" She was at a loss of words. What was wrong with the boy? "Are you okay?" She asked with more concern. Denver's dad came out and gaped at his sparkling car.
"What the hell! Who cleaned my car?" He asked with surprise.
"Den did," said his ma and they both looked at one another with shock.
Then his dad's glance fell upon a grining Sapphire who was enjoying the drama happening at the house in front of hers. Henry Taylor chuckled and nudged his wife, gesturing towards Sapphire. His ma's jaws dropped after knowing that her son was actually love sick. She shook her head and went inside. Denver looked at Sapphire and grinned. She blushed and went inside. Denver's heart somesaulted and he went in to take a shower. Life was getting so interesting but he would have to keep an eye on that Callum West. He got ready for college and rode off in his motorcycle, ready to tell his best friend Colton.
