Epilogue
Eight Months Later
The last eight months had been very eventful and exciting for Carmella. Jaxon cooked for her when she was down, he accompanied her to all the doctor's visits as well as the ultrasound tests. It seemed as if he too was pregnant along with her, expecting a baby. Her parents visited her regularly and she felt so cherished.
She knew that she was expecting twins and Jaxon sang to his babies every night and they kicked whenever he sang to them. "Have you decided a name for them?" Asked Carmella. Every week they decided upon a name for them and then when the week passed, they cancelled it and thought of new ones.
"What about Jazelle for our daughter and Carlton for our son?" Suggested Jaxon.
"Yes, I love the names. So that's final then," said Carmella, happy with the names. However the next week they met a couple at the doctor's clinic with a naughty brat of a daughter called Jazelle and immediately cancelled it. Another week later Carmella hired a new security staff for her boutique whose name was Carlton and she cancelled that name too. And it was back to square one.
"Now what?" She asked Jaxon.
"What about Carson and Janelle?" He suggested.
Carmella clapped her hands. "I love them. Where do you get so many name suggestions from?" She asked in a bewildered tone.
"That's all I do these days," he said with a tired smile. She pulled him into her chest and he lay his head there leaning into the embrace.
"Don't be so stressed love. We're nearly there. You already are the best husband and mostly the best dad in the world," she said kissing the top of his head.
"Thank you. It means the world to me when you say so," he mumbled into her.
"I love you so much, " she said and he smiled. "I love you more," he said with a grin.
A week later Carmella's parents arrived since her due date was a week away. Gilbert and Jacqueline came over to fix the furniture for the nursery. Jaxon had painted the whole room himself with the help of his friends.
"It's looking so warm and welcoming. I love it already. Thanks guys, all of you are the best," gushed Carmella happily, seeing the beautifully painted and decorated nursery, just as she had wanted it to be. Jaxon brought her to check out the final outcome of their hardwork.
She suddenly felt a spasm in her lower abdomen. She clasped onto her stomach and felt herself getting dizzy. Jaxon rushed and gently guided her to a couch. "Sit please. Are you feeling better?" He asked with panic.
"No, I think the babies are trying to come out," she said with wide scared eyes.
Jacqueline rushed to call Carmella's mom. Amanda and Ethan Parker came rushing and after seeing her condition, realised that it was time for her delivery. They rushed her to the hospital. All their friends too followed them in their cars.
After three hours of painful contractions, ultimately Carmella gave birth to Carson and Janelle. The moment Jaxon took them in his arms, he felt a rush of love invade his senses just at the sight and feel of them. His babies. He would love and protect them and be a best dad to them. Carmella's parents were over the moon with happiness. Everyone congratulated Jaxon and he looked and felt blissfully happy and already like a proud dad.
He went to see his Carmella and saw that she was nearly dozing off from the exhaustion of it all. "You've made me the happiest man on earth, love," he said, kissing her forehead. She opened her eyes and smiled at him.
"And you've made me the happiest woman in the world, " she said with a serene smile on her lips.
"Are you okay?" He asked with concern.
"Yes, I'm just tired. Did you see our babies?" She asked him.
"Yes, they look like us. I'm already in love with them. I held them in my arms, " he said excitedly.
"Now sleep. Tomorrow we'll go back home, " he said as she closed her eyes, sleep taking over her.
The next day, Jaxon brought his little family home. Despite his busy schedule he learnt to take care of his babies although he kept a nanny to look after them. He and Carmella took care of their babies together and it was the best time of their lives. Jaxon had missed having a family all his life since the death of his father but now he was at peace with his world. He had a little family of his own who loved him unconditionally. He couldn't have asked God for anything more.
Carmella's parents stayed with them for a month to take care of them all and give them the much needed support. Jaxon was grateful to have them in his life too. His friends visited them often and they shared a beautiful bond with the babies. Jacqueline was expecting and came over to take tips from Carmella. She too learnt how to handle babies along with an over-eager Gilbert.
Tyler and River were expecting their second baby in another two weeks and couldn't come over but they video chatted frequently to know about each other's lives.
Liam had disappeared in the last one week and everyone was wondering where he'd gone off too. Carmella crossed her fingers and hoped that he too would get his happily ever after since he was the youngest and still living with his unrequited love.
Carmella was thankful to God that she got what she wanted. After so many ups and downs her life was complete. What seemed like a hopeless dream once upon a time came true for her just like a fairy tale.
