Chapter Two
"You? But River isn't here. She's gone out," said Sera, not wanting to face him now.
"I know. I've come for you," he said, still smirking as he came into the living room. Sera stared at him dumbfounded. Why should he come for her? She didn't want anything to do with him.
He went into the kitchen and kept a parcel on the counter. "You could look a little happier to see me, I've brought us dinner," he said, hiding his smile.
"Thanks but River was supposed to bring too," she informed him.
"River won't be returning here tonight so she called me to get you dinner," said Zachary.
"Oh, " said Sera. She just wanted to find Carol and return home at the earliest. She knew she would lose her job at the library if she took any more leaves.
"You don't look happy to see me?" Said Zachary, coming towards her as she stood at the kitchen counter deep in thoughts.
"It's not that. I need to be home so we need to find Carol fast," she said, worriedly.
Zachary stood behind her, close. She could feel his hot breath on her neck. "We will, don't worry. Till then live a little, Sera," he said softly.
"Let's eat," she said, turning around and taking out the plates to serve the food he brought.
"Why are you so worked up all the time? You need to chill," he said and Sera ignored him. She never had the time to relax. She was always busy trying to either help her mom with her orders or her dad at his garage. Being the eldest she had a lot of responsibilities. She worked at the library to pay for her education. She needed to work overtime on weekends for the extra money which she gave at home.
"I have too much on my plate. I don't have time to relax, " she confessed as she served the spaghetti and meatballs onto two plates.
"I'll teach you how to," he said, looking at her intently. She was extremely beautiful from so close. The first thing that struck him about her was her simplicity and innocence. Her eyes were so deep you could drown in them if you weren't careful. But he wasn't the one to fall for someone so easily. He made girls fall for him.
He was puzzled how his charm wasn't working on Sera. It worked on all women. They drooled at the sight of him, ready to jump into his bed. He had always taken his girlfriends casually. They didn't last more than two months. But Sera kept trying to avoid him from the moment they met. She didn't respond to his flirting and he was puzzled. She intrigued him and he felt an intense desire to have her naked and moaning under him.
She wasn't like the girls he knew. Maybe that was why he wanted Sera to fall for him. The more he spoke to her, the stronger became his wish to make her his, to bend her. It was like a challenge to him and he never backed away from a challenge. He didn't know why he had this crazy wish to make her fall for him, to make her beg him to make love to her. But he did.
"We'll see," she said, carrying the plates to the table. He followed her, watching her hips as they swayed as she walked. How he would love to touch them! His resolve to have her strengthened further seeing her firm sexy butt and her gorgeous curves. He was already hard watching her and she had no idea of what was going on in his head.
She sat down to eat and he sat opposite her. "Thanks, this is delicious, " she said, concentrating on the food. Zachary sat hypnotised by her creamy neck and the generous cleavage showing her ample breasts. She was too beautiful for her own good. And Zachary was no saint. He was a spoilt brat of filthy rich parents and lived a sinful life. There was nothing that Zachary Reynor hadn't tried. He had a bad reputation in the entire length and breadth of Las Vegas.
"So, tell me about yourself, Sera, " he said, digging into his plate.
"There's nothing to tell, actually. I'm studying with River," she said, simply.
"How old are you?" He asked, curiously. She looked very young, maybe nineteen.
"I turned twenty last month, " she said and Zachary smiled. She was two years younger to him.
"So, you live in Alabama too?" He asked and she nodded. "What else do you do? Dancing? Skating, painting?"
"Nothing. I work at the local library after college and also on weekends," she said, looking up at him. He stared at her. She worked while studying? Did she need money so badly?
"Oh, for pocket money? Your dad must be stingy," he joked.
"No, I pay for my education as well as give at home. My dad's the sweetest, he runs a garage and works for nearly fourteen long hours a day," she told him. He stared at her with his jaw dropped.
He had no idea. She didn't have a drop of makeup on her. Her top and shorts were very basic but made her stand out in a crowd without any effort. The girls he knew spend hours in a salon or spa and splurged on expensive makeup to make them look a little presentable.
"Oh," he said, not knowing what to say. The playboy Zachary Reynor was left tongue-tied by a young small town girl.
"What do you do?" She asked him and he looked at her in disbelief. Obviously she had no idea of his reputation. River might not have informed her about him.
"I'm studying engineering, civil engineering, " he said and she nodded. She got up and carried their plates to the kitchen sink to wash and Zachary followed her like a lost puppy. The more he talked to her, the more he was intrigued by her. He wanted to know more about her.
"Will you go for a walk with me?" He asked her. It was too early to sleep and he just wanted to be with her, know her more. He didn't understand what was happening to him. He had just met her today yet he wanted to spend more time with her. He wanted her to fall for him. He wanted to make love to her.
He understood the desire a spend the night with her but what he didn't understand was why he wanted to know her more. He never gave a fu*k about the girls he dated. It was just a physical thing always.
"Now?" She asked turning to look at him incredulously. He looked down into her eyes and felt himself drowning. Why did she always have to look at him with wide innocent blue eyes?
"Yes, " he said, holding his breath.
"Ok," she said softly. She picked up her keys and Zachary led her outside. "Where are we going?" She asked him as he led her out of the building onto the street.
"Just the park nearby. It's open 24/7 for the residents of this area. You'll like it," he said, holding her hand and crossing the street.
He didn't leave her hand even after crossing. What was happening to his resolve? All he wanted was to make her fall for him and then to have her for the night. That was all but why did he love holding her hand so much? He felt excited and happy just holding her hand? It was unbelievable. What happened to the notorious Zachary Reynor?
