Chapter Eight
"Jaden, Oh my Gosh, what have we done?" Rosalie exclaimed as she suddenly came to her senses.
"Relax, Rosie. We haven't done anything wrong, " he coaxed, trying to comfort her.
Rosalie jumped out of her bed and picked up her clothes and wore them hurriedly. "No, it's wrong, Jaden. I'm an engaged woman and I've cheated my fiancé," she said in panic.
"You won't be marrying him," he said with conviction. He wouldn't stand and watch her get married right before his eyes to Mr McAllister.
"Please face it Jaden. What we did was wrong. I don't know how I will face my family?" She said, panicking.
"Your family is using you for their gain. For God's sake come to your senses and break off the wedding," he said, getting frustrated.
"No. I can't break off the wedding. This was a mistake. Oh God. Now everyone will kill me," she said, rushing to her en-suite.
Jaden got up, hurt. He loved her yet she called him a mistake. He wore his clothes and quietly left her apartment.
He went to his apartment, took a shower and went home to Travis Springs.
Rosalie went about her daily routine. Two weeks passed by and she didn't see Jaden. It seemed he disappeared from her life. She missed him terribly and cried every night to sleep.
Mr McAllister had taken her out to dinner twice. After she came home, she puked the entire contents of her stomach into her toilet bowl.
She took medicine for a stomach bug and went to bed. The next four days, she was too sick and nauseated to go to work. She lay all alone on her bed and missed Jaden.
Her dad came to see her. He had something important to talk to her about. The moment he saw her, he was concerned. He picked her up and took her to the nearest hospital.
They admitted her immediately and put her on IV drips. They conducted tests and waited for the results. Her dad stayed with her at the hospital with her. He informed his wife that Rosalie was sick and needed hospital treatment.
The reports arrived by 10 o'clock at night.
"Your daughter is extremely anaemic, Mr Edwards. She is 2 weeks pregnant and she requires a healthy diet," said the doctor.
"She is pregnant? Are you sure, doctor?" Asked her dad, perplexed. He couldn't believe that Mr McAllister could stoop so low and do it with her before the wedding. He had promised that he wouldn't touch her before the wedding.
"Yes, 100% sure. Here these are her reports. We will release her in an hour. You can take her home," said the doctor.
"Thank you, doctor, " he said, going down to the reception to sign and clear the dues and get her released.
They reached her apartment by midnight. He took her to her bedroom and helped her lay down.
"What happened to me, dad?" She asked, worried.
"You're pregnant and anaemic, " he told her and she stared at her dad with a horror-stricken look on her face.
"I'm pregnant?" She asked incredulously. Oh God, now what would she do?
"Yes. Now I'll give Allen a piece of my mind for getting you pregnant before the wedding. He promised he wouldn't touch you," said her dad, distraught with worry.
"No, dad, don't tell Mr McAllister anything. He didn't touch me," she said, ashamed of herself.
Her dad's jaws fell. He sat down at the edge of the bed and stared at her weirdly.
"Then whose baby are you carrying Rose?" He demanded, angrily. Did she have a one night stand with a random stranger?
"It's Jaden Meyers' baby. He loves me dad and I love him too," she said and her dad stared at her.
"Who Jaden Meyers? Your childhood friend from Travis Springs?" He asked incredulously.
"Yes dad. He follows me around. He wants to marry me. He lives in the apartment opposite," she informed her dad.
"Ok, call him. I want a word with him," said her dad.
"He's gone. I was rude to him. I spoke to him harshly. He was upset. So he left," she said, sobbing.
"Oh ok, shhh don't cry. I'll talk to his dad," he said, wiping her tears. "Now you take some rest. I'll come tomorrow morning and explain your medicines. Ok?" He said, kissing her forehead. Rosalie nodded and he left.
The next morning her dad came to make her some grilled apple sandwiches for breakfast. He also made some lemon soup with chicken and orzo. He got some ginger cookies from his home and kept it beside her on the bed. He left for work after explaining to her the medicines she needed to take.
After being satisfied that she would survive, he left. He went to Travis Springs to meet Christopher Meyers.
Rosalie ate a sandwich and took her medicines and rested. She had taken a ten day leave from work. Considering that she didn't take a single leave since she joined, they granted her the leave.
In the evening Allison visited her straight from work. Since Rosalie loved her work and never stayed away at home, she was very concerned.
"You're pregnant? Oh my God. Please don't tell me that old man raped you," she said melodramatically, with a look of horror on her face.
"No, it's Jaden's," she confessed and Allison stared at her in disbelief.
Then she gained her composure and a wide grin appeared on her face at the news. She clapped her hands and jumped with joy,"Oh, you two cheeky ones. When did you do it? And you didn't tell me?" She glared at her.
Rosalie rolled her eyes and looked at her. "Dad found out," she said and Allison widened her eyes with shock.
"How did he react?" She asked apprehensively.
Rosalie told her everything that happened since the day she first bonded with her dad and found out about her real mom. She told her what he faced in his lifetime because of her wicked stepmother, Jennifer Edwards.
"I always thought she wasn't your real mom," said Allison. "We'll go and meet your mom one day. So how did your dad react to this pregnancy?"
"Dad didn't react the way I thought he would. I thought he would panic. He didn't. And he remembers Jaden Meyers even after so many years. What surprises me is that he wanted to meet Jaden," she said.
"So did they meet?" Asked Allison.
"No, Jaden went away. I was rude to him. He felt hurt. Dad will talk to his dad," she said and Allison stared at her with round eyes.
"So your wedding is called off?" She asked with hope.
"I have no idea," said Rosalie. Her dad didn't come to see her after the morning. She wanted to ask him what conversation he had with uncle Meyers.
"I will call off the wedding if you guys won't, " said Allison.
"No, please. Let dad handle it. You don't know Jennifer. She will harm anyone if she didn't get the money from Mr McAllister, " said Rosalie.
"Ok, then, keep me updated," she said. She made her some ginger chicken quinoa salad for dinner.
When Rosalie had eaten and taken her medicines, Allison left.
Rosalie lay in her bed and thought about her Jaden. She knew she still loved Jaden and no one else. She regretted saying those harsh words to him. If only he would come back to her.
"I'm sorry Jaden, " she sobbed into her pillow. "I'm so sorry."
